💙 Great news for Wisconsin families! As of July 1, 2026, eligible BadgerCare Plus and Medicaid members who are enrolled at the end of their pregnancy can now keep their health care coverage for up to one full year postpartum—an increase from the previous 60-day coverage period.
The extended coverage applies to most people who were enrolled in full-benefit BadgerCare Plus or Medicaid on the last day of their pregnancy. Existing eligible members are automatically covered under the new policy—there's no separate application to receive the extended postpartum benefit.
The postpartum period is an important time for physical and mental health care, chronic disease management, and recovery after childbirth. Having health insurance for a full year helps new parents stay connected to the care they need—for themselves and their babies.
