Madison Cat Project

It's National FIV Awareness Day!

Meet Chad - a happy, goofy, high energy four year old. He's FIV positive, but what does that mean, really? Does it mean he isn't allowed to have cat friends? Does it mean he is going to be sickly and need expensive medical care the rest of his life? NO!

FIV just means that he has a harder time fighting off colds and other diseases, similar to an immunocompromised human. He can still live with other cats, even if they don't have FIV. It can only be transferred via deep bites, which don't typically happen in indoor cats, so as you can see in the video, we are happy to have him play and interact with other cats despite his FIV status.

He's currently living in foster care waiting for his forever home. Want to give him a chance? Fill out our adoption questionnaire to schedule a time with his foster.

We’re at Mounds East until 2 PM!

LAST DAY of Neighborhood Pet Store Day. Come for the great sales and specials, and to meet your new best furry friend! Shelter From The Storm Animal Rescue, Misfit Felines, Madison Cat Project and 9 Lives Rescue!

how are you feeling about playing the Falcons tonight? We have some potential players in training if you think you might need some extra paws...

Offense - Shredded Wheat, Nacho, and Muffin. These three are pros at keeping the ball tight to their chest without letting anyone else touch it.
Defense - Ricardo and Nube. With those scary teeth and a relentless curiosity for bird toys, the Falcons will go running in fear!

Good luck! 🏈

It's our favorite game... FIND THAT CAT! 👁🐈

Oreo Atticus is hiding somewhere in this room... how quickly can you spot him?

"You get a black kitten, you get a black kitten!"

You want some? We got 'em. Come meet one of these rambunctious babies today, 11-3, during our adoption fair. None of them catching your eye? We have other kittens and adult cats in the shelter also waiting for their forever home.

Take a chance on a cat in need of a home ♥

After a LOT of physical and emotional rehab, our 'cereal cats' are ready to be adopted! These brave little guys and gals hadn't met a lot of people before they came to the shelter and needed a lot of support from staff and volunteers to become happy and healthy. Now, finally, they are all ready for their forever homes.

As you can tell, they were quite unsure about humans when they first arrived. And, understandably, they still are. But we have seen them become more and more brave each day. Because they are still shy around people, they like to hide around newcomers during our adoption hours. But when the shelter is quiet and they are surrounded by the humans they are comfortable with, they come alive to play and ask for pets. The shelter can be stressful for cats, but if you're willing to take a chance on one of these guys and give them a lot of patience, once comfortable they each have a unique and beautiful personality of their own.

Meet them tonight, at our adoption hours, 4:30-6:30. Note that these cats are cat-dependent, meaning they require a cat friend in their new home to help them with their confidence and bravery.
