Every siding type asks something different of you. The right choice often comes down to how much upkeep fits your life, not just how it looks on day one.

Fall is also a great time to run through that inspection checklist, so any small issues get handled before winter sets in.

Two wins, one community that keeps showing up for us. 🏆🏆

Ridge Top Exteriors is a madison.com People's Choice winner in Home Improvement, Roof/Gutter Company, Window Company, and Siding Company, and Gold for Best Roofer in Madison Magazine's Best of Madison. Different polls, different months, same neighbors deciding both.

Twenty plus years in, the wins that matter most to us aren't the ones decided behind closed doors. They're the ones decided by the people whose roofs we've been on and whose questions we've answered honestly, even the hard ones.

If you're weighing your options for a roofing, siding, window, or gutter project, we'd be glad to earn that same trust with you.

Where two sections of your roof meet, water from both slopes gets funneled into one narrow channel. Every rainstorm, every bit of melting snow, all of it runs straight through your valleys. That concentrated flow is exactly why a small flaw there turns into a big problem.

The tricky part? Valley leaks rarely show up where you'd expect. Water can travel along the roof deck before it drips through, so a stain in a bedroom ceiling might trace back to a valley several feet away.

Here's what you can check without climbing a ladder:
🍂 Leaves, twigs, or debris collecting in the valley
🔍 Shingles along the valley that look cracked, curled, or out of line
💧 Water stains on ceilings or walls near where rooflines intersect

Our newest blog covers why valleys are so vulnerable, how they should be built to hold up, and one more commonly overlooked leak source most homeowners never think to check.

Our Ridge Top family is about to get a little bigger! 🍼

We recently took a break from the phones and the schedules to celebrate Fatima from our call center and the new little one on the way.

If you've ever called Ridge Top, there's a good chance Fatima was the friendly voice on the other end. She's the person who helps homeowners get their questions answered, their appointments set, and their minds put at ease, often before anyone on our team ever steps onto a roof. She brings that same warmth to everyone she works with, so it was a joy to turn the tables and make the day all about her.

Fatima, we are so happy for you and your growing family. Thank you for everything you pour into this team. We can't wait to welcome the newest member of the Ridge Top family." Help us send Fatima some love! Leave your congratulations in the comments. 💙

Trapped debris in a roof valley causes more damage than most homeowners realize. Here's what's actually happening up there:

💧 Leaves and needles hold moisture against your shingles far longer than open air ever would
🌱 Trapped moisture is what allows moss and algae to take hold
🕳️ Slowed drainage means water backs up instead of running off, increasing the odds it finds a gap
🛠️ Valleys are one of the most common places roof leaks start, simply because debris builds up there fastest

A quick visual check after a windy day, or twice a year at minimum, is enough to catch this before it becomes a repair.
