I had the honor of attending yesterday's graduation ceremony in Oak Creek for graduates of Superior Ambulance Services latest Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program.
I am proud of all those who are willing to answer the call to help others, being a shining light to others in one of their darkest moments. I am proud to support individuals exemplifying the values of bravery and empathy that we all aspire to.
I was especially proud of District 12 graduate Jasmine Pitts. Jasmine does District 12 proud! Thanks to everyone for inviting me and my fellow legislators to share in this moment.

I was grateful for the opportunity to be able to hear from the Village of Brown Deer at their town hall meeting. I am proud of the great work the village and school district has been able to do.
Hearing from the village was a reminder that the state must not forget its obligation to share the burden with our local government partners, and we can start by better funding special education.

Happy Forth of July!
Today, America celebrates 250 years of freedom! I am proud to celebrate the things that make this country great, the freedom and opportunity that this country provides.
As we celebrate this momentous occasion, we must not forget the sacrifices that were made to get us to this point. From the days of the founding, many have had to make untold sacrifices to keep this America moving to a better path. From those who have taken up the mantle of defending this country, some of whom paid the ultimate sacrifice, to those who struggled to make sure we are a country where truly all Americans are created equal, we must not forget their sacrifice. We honor this by always striving for a more perfect union.
Here is to 250 years, and forward on to 250 more!

Representative Goodwin released the following press release today calling for proactive emergency action following the Milwaukee flooding.
Milwaukee, WI —In response to the devastating flooding that has impacted families and neighborhoods across Milwaukee, State Representative Russell Goodwin is calling for immediate and proactive emergency action to address aging infrastructure and prevent future disasters.
“We must be proactive. We can no longer wait on the next storm to expose the same failures in our infrastructure,” said Rep. Goodwin. “This requires a proactive emergency response, not a reactive one. The time to act is now.”
Despite the scale of previous damage, far too many families were left without the support they needed to fully recover. Homes were damaged, businesses were disrupted, and in some cases, sewage entered residential areas—posing serious public health and safety concerns.
“My heart goes out to every family impacted by these storms,” Goodwin said. “No one should have to choose between rebuilding their home and staying financially afloat.”
Rep. Goodwin is calling for emergency tax relief for families impacted by these storms, ensuring residents have the support they need to recover without being pushed further into financial hardship.
“This is not just about weather,” Goodwin continued. “This is about public safety, infrastructure, and our responsibility to protect the people we serve.”
Rep. Goodwin is urging a comprehensive approach that includes:
• Immediate state investment in flood recovery and infrastructure repair
• Emergency tax relief for impacted families
• Modernization of Milwaukee’s outdated sewer systems
• Updated stormwater standards for new construction and development
• Expansion of green infrastructure solutions to reduce runoff
• Targeted support for neighborhoods most impacted
“Milwaukee families should not have to relive this cycle year after year,” said Goodwin. “We have the resources. We have the data. What we need now is the urgency and leadership to act.”
Rep. Goodwin reaffirmed his commitment to working across the aisle with local and state leaders to deliver meaningful, long-term solutions that protect residents and strengthen communities.
“We cannot afford to wait for another crisis to do what should have already been done.”
