Want to learn more about Bellini's thrilling opera, Norma? Join General Director Kathryn Smith tomorrow, September 29, and Artistic Administrator Chloe Agostino on Wednesday, September 30 in person for a multimedia preview that looks at Bellini, the history of Norma, and our production, including a performance of an aria by Studio Artist Alexandra Burch.

Community Previews are FREE and open to the public.

Tuesday, September 29 at 7pm at Oakwood (West), 6205 Mineral Point Road.

Wednesday, September 30 at 7pm at Capitol Lakes, 333 W. Main St.

Opera Talk with Kathryn Smith returns for its sixth season! Whether worshipped or leading the worship, opera heroines are often deservedly placed on a pedestal. Join Kathryn in the divine realm of operas such as Norma, La Vestale, Iphigénie en Tauride, Les Troyens, The Ring Cycle, Orpheus in the Underworld, and beyond, with a side journey to look at some of the divas most famous for these roles. Cute animal photos included, as always.

Meet our 2026/27 Studio Artists! Soprano Alexandra Burch, mezzo-soprano Madison Barrett, tenor Erik DeMario, and baritone Mc Jefferson Agloro, pictured here with pianist Scott Gendel, introduced themselves with a beautiful program at our annual Meet the Studio Artists Recital yesterday. These performers will be with us all season, singing small roles, covering major roles, and doing a host of performances in our community. Applications for the 26/27 High School Apprentice Program are now open! Madison Opera’s free High School Apprentice Program offers high school juniors and seniors the unique opportunity to explore the world of professional opera.

During a season, apprentices have the opportunity to meet and dine with guest artists, attend rehearsals and performances, participate in various workshops and masterclasses, and have a great time while learning about what it takes to bring an opera to life.

It was an incredible evening sharing music with you at Opera in the Park! Celebrating 25 years of this incredible Madison summer tradition with thousands of people gathered together in Garner Park was a truly special moment we will never forget. Thank you to all who attended as well as the amazing people who helped make this magical evening happen.
