Madison-Rafah Sister City Project
MRSCP is a local group seeking to educate people in Madison about the realities of life in Gaza and the West Bank. MadisonRafah.org is the project’s web site.
The Madison-Rafah Sister City Project was started in 2003 by a group of concerned citizens in Madison, Wisconsin in order to build wider public awareness of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and to forge person-to-person relationships that would benefit citizens of both cities. The Madison-Rafah Sister City Project is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, and donations are tax deductible. We staff information and crafts tables at all of our events and the events of other groups; we annually participate in Madison’s Fair Trade Holiday Festival and Overture International Festival where we sell a large variety of fair trade Palestinian crafts and Holy Land olive oil products. We sponsor and co-sponsor speakers and films throughout the year, including the annual Rachel Corrie Commemorative Dinner and the “speakers to schools” program which provides speakers free of charge to area high schools. The Madison-Rafah Sister City Project offers a Palestine Film Lending Library with a large number of films available for local educational or individual showings. We belong to the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, the Madison Area Peace Coalition, and the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice.

Palestinian Olive Pickers are Denied Access to their Groves
Elisha Yered, an Israeli settler with government backing who killed a Palestinian three years ago, has announced the opening of an olive mill in the illegal settlement of Itamar Hills in the occupied West Bank, styled after traditional Palestinian olive press designs, during the olive harvest season.
It is a fitting symbol of what is happening across the occupied West Bank this year: Palestinian farmers who tended their olive trees all year are being denied the harvest.
Israeli settlers, under full protection of occupation forces, stormed Palestinian groves two geeks before the official season began and stripped the trees bare.
In other areas, settlers took a more permanent approach, uprooting thousands of olive trees to prevent Palestinians from ever harvesting them again.
The olive tree is not just a crop in Palestine. It is identity, inheritance, and livelihood, passed from one generation to the next. This year, as in recent years, Israeli settlers did not only steal the olives. They stole the season.

Today, an immigration court ruled that the Trump Administration can deport Salah Sarsour, a beloved community leader and longtime advocate for Palestinian rights. After already enduring 80 days in ICE detention under cruel and unjust conditions, Salah and his family are once again being forced to live with the fear that he could be torn away from the home he has known for over 30 years, his community, and the people he loves.
To be clear, this decision is NOT a removal order and does not mean that Salah can be re-detained. Salah and his attorneys will appeal this unjust decision, and we will continue fighting alongside them every step of the way. This fight is far from over, and we’re asking you to be part of it.
