Brendan Fraser truly has a heart of pure gold. If you ever needed absolute proof that he is one of the most genuinely wholesome human beings in Hollywood, this beautiful story is it. 🥺❤️
Back when he was filming the miniseries Texas Rising in Mexico, Brendan couldn’t help but notice a heartbreaking situation playing out right on set. One of the stunt horses, a large, beautiful silver-grey gelding named Pecas (which translates to "Freckles") was being relentlessly targeted by the other animals. In the holding pens between takes, the other horses would bite, kick, and crowd him. The gentlest soul on the lot, Pecas never fought back. He just quietly endured the bullying.
Brendan watched this happen and knew he could never leave the poor horse behind when production wrapped. He purchased Pecas right then and there to guarantee his safety.
But getting a massive horse from a remote set in Mexico back to the United States was a massive hurdle. Brendan spared no expense, coordinating a huge logistics operation to fly Pecas home on a specialised FedEx cargo plane. Vets on the flight later remarked that the horse walked right up the ramp like an absolute professional, seemingly knowing he was finally safe.
The story gets even more beautiful once they arrived home. Brendan brought Pecas to a farm near his residence specifically to be a companion for his eldest son, Griffin, who is on the autism spectrum.
The bond between the rescued horse and Griffin was instant magic. Even on days when Griffin doesn't feel like riding, he finds total peace and comfort in the simple, repetitive act of brushing Pecas’s coat a soothing motion that the horse deeply loves and appreciates in return.
They truly rescued each other. Total king behaviour. 👑
