Here’s another look at jail stats. This one is about age.
The blue bar chart is the most recent age stat grab, while the fun-colored multi-line chart is over the last month.

We have had multiple people talk about how many older adults are being arrested. One person even stated that the majority of arrests are 60 & 70 year olds. As we can see here, it’s majority 30, 20, and 40 year olds.

Somebody once asked me why our Initial Appearances seem to focus on men.
This is why.
These are snapshots of DCSO data, taken once every 24 hours of who is currently in the jail. Female population at DCJ sticks right around the 100 mark, and the male population fluctuates between 600 and 700.
Females are arrested at a much lower rate than men, at a 1:6 ish ratio.

Update for last night’s homicide

MPD’s incident report for the homicide last night. As of time of posting the report, MPD had not made an arrest yet.

Getting messages from followers about a shooting that just happened on Troy Drive. Sounds like it involves two people who knew each other.

Noteworthy appearances:
→ Richard L Hughes -- Mr. Hughes was reported to have been screaming at Whole Foods staff, hit someone in the face, and refused to leave. Upon arrest, he refused to identify himself for an extended period of time. He was given a signature bond.
→ Ahamad M Siam -- Mr. Siam is alleged to have rammed a gate at Finish Line Towing, causing significant damage and almost hitting an employee, then fled in the vehicle so quickly that he caused a crash and had to go to the hospital. State asks for a complete ban from driving, defense said that would prevent him from doing his job as an Uber driver. Commissioner orders signature bond and does not order a driving ban.
→ Deshawn D Binder Sr -- The state is requesting 2 weeks to complete the investigation and draft a criminal complaint. Mr. Binder and his SON, Deshawn Binder Jr. are accused of using fraudulent checks to purchase 3 luxury vehicles within 2 days from Trust N Ride Auto Sales on East Washington Ave in Madison.
→ Deshawn D Binder Jr --The state is requesting 2 weeks to complete the investigation and draft a criminal complaint. Mr. Binder Jr. and his father, Deshawn Binder Sr. are accused of using fraudulent checks to purchase 3 luxury vehicles within 2 days from Trust N Ride Auto Sales on East Washington Ave in Madison. Upon arrival of law enforcement, Mr. Binder Jr. fled the scene in one of the vehicles but was apprehended a short time later.

Going back a bit, because we meant to post this one FOREVER ago.

Important to note: Some unruly and big mad behavior caused the stream to be cut short, due to one Mr. Ben Brown causing a disruption, which ended the feed. Once they cut the feed, our software thought the day was done, and failed to capture the last few appearances when they came back.

Noteworthy Appearances:
Ben W Brown -- appears after sending an explicit video of himself to an ex, disorderly contact, unlawful use of a computer, and felony bail jumping. After the hearing is adjourned, he insists on waiving the preliminary hearing (not the time or place). He claims he doesn't want his public defender to be his attorney anymore, he's big mad and very unruly just outside of the courtroom. Livestream mutes, eventually pauses.

Henry W Schober -- Counsel fights HARD for her client, who is a lawyer. He was at the Phish concert and had a disorderly and resistive encounter with an officer, who received an injury. State recommended a signature bond and condition of no alcohol - which counsel found to be excessive, and she listed his full resume as support. "This is not the sort of person that we need to ban from any possession of alcohol." Commissioner orders a signature bond with the standard conditions and states "I'm not doing that based on your resume, or anything like that."

David J Tuttle -- interestingly enough, this case including 9 counts of distributing nitrous oxide was reduced to a county forfeiture. He pleads guilty, because he doesn't want to come back from New Jersey to deal with the case, and he really wants his phone back.

Gregory G Henderson -- charged with hit and run after he fled after a crash that caused significant damage after the other vehicle veered off the road and into a fence. He also appears on a case with repeater misdemeanors of battery and disorderly conduct. Commissioner Rome orders $350 in each case

July 29, 2026 Initial Appearances are up!

Notable Appearances:
Ronald J Ryver -- Arrested twice in 11 days. First case charged with Disorderly Conduct w/ Domestic Abuse modifier. Second case, he was arrested and the police referred up Physical Abuse of a Child and Domestic Disorderly Conduct charges. DA declined to prosecute those, and instead charged him with a Disorderly Conduct. During this IA, commissioner orders that Ryver's cash bail from the first case be refunded, and Ryver was released on signature bonds on both cases.
Some of you may have seen Facebook posts circulating, made by Ryver's place of employment and others. I saw one post that said he was/is an owner, but I'm not sure on that.

Bevin E Moeller - Suspect, unprovoked, knocked out three teeth of a 75 year old man while he was buying a bus ticket. It appears that her mental health was a significant factor in this issue, and she voluntarily sought treatment following the incident. $1000 cash bond ordered due to the severity of the incident and a history of non-appearance

Jacob E Hoskins Jr -- Appears via phone from Columbia County for 2 cases, one being a drug dealing case and a fleeing case - law enforcement questioned him and learned he had a federal warrant from the US Marshall Service. He is also out on a $10,000 bond for drug dealing counts and felon in possession of a firearm while committing these new crimes. Commissioner orders a total of $20,000 between the two cases.

James Jones -- Posted bond in 3 open cases, then committed a violent offense that was caught on video just 7 days later. Commissioner orders $1200 cash bail.
