Civil Service protects the public. We need to reverse these erosions of Civil Service.
On Wednesday the White House moved to strip civil service protections from about 8,000 federal workers, including many working at public health agencies.
The executive order effectively transforms these jobs—which include “epidemiologist,” “health scientist” and “toxicologist”—into “at-will” positions, meaning people in such roles can be readily fired without cause. http://spklr.io/6049EMFWx

Civil Service is a basic building block of clean government and democracy. Stop shifting jobs from Civil Service to appointees and at-will employment. It's a recipe for corruption.

Madison teachers are talking about how salary compression is a problem. It lowers retention of experienced teachers. State employees have similar issues and hopefully we can learn from these actions by our fellow unionized public employees.
