Twisted Teens is a rockin’ roll band from New Orleans. The Kinks of living in a school bus with no wheels on it. The Rolling Stones of Jungian anarchism. The Buzzcocks of the poisoned bogs of south Louisiana. Punk inflected country music, or country inflected punk music idk. Memetic warfare via earworms (it’s extremely catchy). Outperforms all other bands in every metric, drinks every night but still makes it to the gym. Draws no contrast between the familiar and unfamiliar.

We were anything but frozen during our early listening event for Jack White’s new album ‘Frozen Charlotte’, but it did not hinder our enjoyment one whit. Jack kicks the door down like he left something locked up after hours on this vigorous record fed on vocal howl and scouring guitar, another in a series of humble triumphs from the realist rock veteran. I will confess to not always having been a huge fan (you gotta understand the elder Millennial distrust of any self-anointed rock star), but at this point, I’ve handed it to Jack so many times now that I’m running out of things to type this with. Decades into his career, he is still honing in on a raw perfection like a tireless craftsman, making records that feel fresh, fun, and not at all corny.
