We're a friendly makerspace . Member driven, community focused. The MakerBarn is a non-profit makerspace located near The Woodlands, Tx.
A makerspace is similar to a fitness center, but instead of building muscles, the members of the makerspace build things, all kinds of things. Members have access to professional grade tools and machines. There is a woodworking shop with Table Saw, Band Saw, Planer, Jointer, Scroll Saw, Sanders, Wood Lathe, and assorted other hand and power tools. There is a Welding Shop, Machine Shop, and upstai

What can you do in an hour and a half in the Shop?
We had a member bring in, what looked to be, a 40 pound rough cut of pecan wood that had a valley in the middle. Really rough. He cuts a 4x4x16" strip on the resaw, joints it, planes it, turns it on the lathe, sands it, and leaves with an over-sized handle affixed to a bottle opener! He is giving as a gift the next day at work. Wow! That's some focus!

At the Wednesday Electronics Group, they soldered MACS2 (Makerspace Access Control System) boards, and David made some new 3D printed holders. George made the useful alligator clips to make using the multimeter easier. Fun night!
