Commissioned by the Boston-based Odyssey Opera, Mark Adamo’s SARAH IN THE THEATRE explores the life of opera pioneer Sarah Caldwell. Chautauqua Opera Company’s 16 young artists present excerpts from the opera, followed by a conversation with the composer/librettist.

This world premiere opera recording is a collab with Boston Modern Orchestra Project (BMOP) which preserves our February 2025 presentation at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. At Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua Opera Company’s young artists will sing all roles in the first piano-vocal workshop of this fantasy on the life and work of pioneering opera conductor, stage director, and impresario Sarah Caldwell.

Followed by a convo with the composer-librettist, providing a special window into Adamo’s work dramatizing the career of a true American trailblazer.

Tickets are $20 and include grounds access beginning at the time stated on the ticket; typically three hours before an event’s start.
