Your AI used to ask first. That’s changing. Back when I told you to start small with AI, the advice came with a condition: a human reviews everything before it goes out.

"We have cyber insurance, so we're covered."

It's a reasonable thing to believe, but it's only part of the picture. Cyber insurance helps pay for costs after an incident. It doesn't prevent one.

Insurers also commonly ask what protections you have in place, like multi-factor authentication, tested backups and endpoint protection. If a claim is reviewed and those protections weren't really there, coverage can be reduced or denied.

Before your next renewal, read the conditions in your policy and make sure your answers match what's actually running.
