Spring 2026 Commissioning Ceremony
Last Friday, Detachment 270 proudly commissioned 9 new Second Lieutenants into the United States Air Force. Surrounded by family, friends, cadre, and fellow cadets, the ceremony celebrated years of hard work, commitment, and leadership that led to this moment.
We were honored to welcome Col Gary Clark as our guest speaker, whose lifelong service and strong connection to Detachment 270 made his message especially meaningful for our newest officers. We also recognized 2d Lt O’Rourke as this year’s Distinguished Graduate for outstanding performance throughout their AFROTC career.
Congratulations to our newest lieutenants as they begin the next chapter of service to our nation. Detachment 270 is proud of you all. 🇺🇸✈️

🟣 WILDCAT WEDNESDAY 🟣
Cadet Shah is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Aviation with minors in Aerospace Studies, Unmanned Aerial Systems, and Aviation Safety.
He has been selected to commission into the United States Air Force as a Pilot and will attend Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas.
He joined AFROTC to serve his country in the highest capacity possible while also doing something really sick.
His favorite memory from his time in the program was Drop Night, which he called the second greatest day of his life so far.
A quote that inspired him throughout college was,
“All is well.” — 3 Idiots
Congratulations, Cadet Shah! We are excited to see you make your mark in the Air Force. ✈️🇺🇸

LLAB 13 – FTX at Fort Riley
For week 13, cadets traveled to Fort Riley for a 14-hour Field Training Exercise (FTX), putting this semester’s training into practice alongside soldiers from the 1-16th Infantry Division. Cadets worked through a full day of field scenarios, applying skills like TCCC and CQB while being challenged to think critically, communicate clearly, and adapt under pressure. Our 200s were also given opportunities to step into leadership roles and lead their teams throughout the day.
This exercise brought the semester’s training together, giving cadets the chance to apply months of preparation in a realistic field environment. A special thank you to our FTX team for the time and effort put into planning and executing this training, and to the soldiers of the 1-16th Infantry Division for their continued support and mentorship throughout the semester. 💪🇺🇸
