thics. Since the conception of Lambda Pi Eta, Upsilon Rho chapter in 2006 we have successfully added many members. This Communication Studies Honors Society recognizes students who have a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 and a Communication Studies GPA of at least a 3.25. Dating back to 1863, Kansas State University has a rich history in Communication Studies. In fact, the first organizations at K-State were literary societies, which focused on public speaking training, socials, weekly meetings, and debates. Unfortunately, these societies died out as years passed, and now, we have taken the unique opportunity as students to invest in a Communication Studies once again. Its goals are:
(1) to recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic achievement in communication studies;
(2) to stimulate interest in the field of communication;
(3) to promote and encourage professional development among communication majors;
(4) to provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the field of communication;
(5) to establish and maintain closer relationships between faculty and students; and (6) to explore options for graduate education in communication studies. Our current goals for this organization include, but are not limited to: bringing in speakers, research opportunities, resume critiquing workshops, personal development, social activities, and the chance to meet other people with a similar interest to you. Other activities that Lambda Pi Eta has become involved with over the past couple of years are the Communication Studies Fair and the all university open house every spring.
