🚨 PUBLIC ASSISTANCE REQUESTED 🚨
The Manitowoc Police Department is seeking the public’s help locating a witness to a hit-and-run crash that occurred on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at about 8:30 a.m. in the Manitowoc Library parking lot.
Two vehicles backed out of their parking spaces and collided. One of the vehicles left the scene.
Several people reportedly witnessed the crash. A female witness had a digital photograph of the incident on her phone, which she showed to the victim vehicle operator and helped identify the license plate of the vehicle that left the scene. Unfortunately, the victim operator did not obtain the witness’s contact information or a copy of the photograph. We would like to speak with this witness and obtain the digital image. If you were the witness with the photograph, or if you know who this witness may be, please contact:
👮 Officer St. Pierre #986
📞 920-686-6551

Congratulations to Captain Cooper Schmidt on successfully completing the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, a rigorous 10-week training program. Your hard work, dedication, and commitment to professional development are greatly appreciated by the City of Manitowoc and the Manitowoc Police Department.
It was great to have some of your family members, along with Chief Musial, there to share in your graduation day. It was also an honor to see you receive your diploma from FBI Director Kash Patel alongside your honorary Class 299 classmate, Shaquille O’Neal.
Congratulations, Captain Schmidt, on this outstanding accomplishment. Your achievement is something you, your family, and our department can be very proud of.
