Palmstreet gave me a payment window for a reason. At the time this happened, I still had over 2½ hours remaining to complete my payment.

I had already explained that I was working and would take care of it as quickly as possible. I did not need to be rushed into completing a transaction sooner because someone wanted to ship that day. Your shipping deadline is not automatically your customer’s payment deadline.

I was fully prepared to purchase the plant. What changed was how uncomfortable I became with the pressure surrounding the transaction. If Palmstreet gives a buyer a window to resolve payment, then allow them that window.

Selling plants isn’t only about owning something rare or valuable. Customer service is part of the transaction too. Sometimes pushing harder doesn’t get you paid faster — it loses the sale entirely.

This is exactly why I’ve become extremely selective about who I do business with on Palmstreet.

I won an auction, explained that I was in the middle of work, and clearly said I would take care of the payment as quickly as possible. Shortly after, I was followed up with again and told to finish the payment because they wanted to ship that day.

Maybe that doesn’t bother everyone, however it bothered me. Once I’ve communicated that I’m busy and that I’m handling something, I don’t appreciate feeling rushed or pressured immediately afterward. I’m a seller too, so I understand wanting to get paid and get orders shipped. I also understand that customers are real people with jobs, responsibilities, and lives outside of an app.

I ultimately decided to pass on the purchase.

Experiences like this are a big part of why I stopped casually doing business with random sellers on Palmstreet. I’d rather spend my money with people I know, trust, and feel comfortable communicating with. Good deals are great. Respectful business is more important to me.

Rare isn’t a trend. It’s the standard. 🌱
