This was the training plan for my SPRAT 3 recertification in 2015, and also for my SPRAT-to-IRATA L3 Conversion in 2016.

It was also the basic plan for my SPRAT 3 recertification back in March, and will be the basis for my IRATA 3 recertification coming up in September.

I have added a couple of things that were not in the cert requirements in back in 2015, such as a hauling & lowering with knotted ropes past a 90-degree edge and a tensioned line exercise with rescue from mid-span. That just makes it even more fun!

I love teaching, training, and working with rope access technicians. Last week was another very safe, intense, demanding, fun, and successful rope access certification course for me, once again here in Atlanta, GA. Seven candidates for SPRAT (Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians) and IRATA International rope access training and certification took the 5-day course, and were evaluated and assessed on Friday. All passed the testing, and everyone had a great, and most importantly safe, day. Six Level 1 candidates were newly certified, and one candidate upgraded from Level 2 to SPRAT and IRATA Level 3.

I love the smell of rope access in the morning. It smells like … safety. I’ll bet you thought I was going to say “victory,” didn’t you? But maybe that too. 😉

I just finished a great week teaching and coaching level 2 & 3 candidates for SPRAT and IRATA certification, and helping with a group of new level 1 candidates. This was my fourth class so far this year, and there are courses here in the Atlanta area scheduled monthly through the end of the year.

I'm finishing up a 2026 schedule for rope access training and certification courses hosted in Atlanta, GA, and selected client locations around the USA.

The standard course is a 5-day class, with 4 days of training followed by a 1-day SPRAT evaluation and certification session.

New level 1 certifications, level 1, 2, and 3 renewals, and level 1-2 and 2-3 upgrades are $1,800, each. All necessary equipment will be provided, including rope access technician kit and helmet, and its use is included in the course fee. All certification and registration fees are included in the course price. Our level 1 success rate is 95%, but If you do not pass your evaluation, we will provide additional training and practice as needed and arrange for you to re-test, at no additional cost.
