Completing the WBFAA apprenticeship program is an important career milestone, but professional development continues after graduation.
WBFAA supports journeymen with continuing education courses and approval of qualifying third-party and in-house training to help them maintain certification and continue building their skills.
That ongoing training supports both technician development and the experienced workforce California fire life safety and electronic security companies depend on.

When can a new apprentice begin submitting on-the-job training hours?
For apprentices in the WBFAA program, OJT can begin from the indentured date shown on the properly completed DAS-1 signed by the apprentice and employer.
Getting registration paperwork right from the beginning helps establish an accurate training record as the apprentice progresses through the program.

CALeFORMS is growing beyond DAS 140 and DAS 142 reporting.
WBFAA is developing a Certified Payroll module to expand the platform’s capabilities for contractors working on California public works projects.
The new module is being developed to help reduce duplicate data entry and bring more of the reporting process into one streamlined workflow.
More information is coming as development progresses.

Did your technicians complete manufacturer or in-house training this year?
Qualifying training may be eligible toward California continuing education requirements. WBFAA can approve qualifying third-party, manufacturer, and in-house training, giving technicians additional ways to complete required continuing education (CEH).
Before assuming valuable training hours will not count, check with WBFAA.
Ask WBFAA about qualifying CEH training or call +1 (800) 809-0280.

DAS 140 and DAS 142 reporting should not require your team to rebuild the process every time a new public works project begins.
CALeFORMS gives contractors a structured digital process for managing these forms, helping reduce manual reporting and keep project documentation organized in one place.
For California fire and electronic security contractors handling public works, a consistent reporting process can make a significant difference.

When you manage multiple apprentices, knowing where each person stands in the program matters.
WBFAA’s Technician Tracking System gives participating companies visibility into apprentice coursework, on-the-job training, levels, and overall program progress.
That visibility helps supervisors stay organized and better understand where each apprentice stands throughout the program.
