🍚 Why Do Koreans Ask “Have You Eaten?”
If you've watched a K-Drama, you may have noticed characters asking:
밥 먹었어요?
Bap meogeosseoyo?
“Have you eaten?”
But why ask about food when simply saying hello or checking in?
In Korean, 밥 먹었어요? literally asks whether someone has eaten. Depending on the relationship and situation, it can also communicate concern, affection, or interest in someone's well-being. ❤️
Food has an important place in Korean social life, so asking whether someone has eaten can be a natural way of showing that you care. That’s one reason you’ll hear this expression so often in Korean conversations and K-Dramas. 🎬
🗣️ TRY IT YOURSELF
네, 먹었어요!
Ne, meogeosseoyo!
“Yes, I ate!”
아직 안 먹었어요.
Ajik an meogeosseoyo.
“I haven’t eaten yet.”
Now you can recognize one of those everyday Korean expressions that carries more meaning than its literal translation suggests. 🇰🇷

How to Choose the Best Korean Class for You 🇰🇷📚
Finding the best Korean class starts with one question: What do you want to achieve? 🎯
Before you register, consider these important factors:
🌱 Your Korean Level
Complete beginners should look for a course that teaches Hangul, pronunciation, vocabulary, sentence structure, and basic grammar. If you already know some Korean, choose a level that matches your current skills.
🗣️ Your Goals
Do you want Korean for travel, conversation, K-dramas, family, work, or long-term fluency? Choose a class that gives you the type of practice you actually need.
📚 A Structured Curriculum
A good Korean course should have a clear learning path. You should know what you're learning now and what comes next.
👩🏻🏫 The Teacher
An experienced teacher can explain grammar clearly, correct mistakes, teach natural expressions, and help you progress with confidence.
👥 Class Size
Small-group Korean classes can provide a balance of teacher instruction, interaction, speaking practice, and affordability.
⏰ Your Schedule
The best class is one you can consistently attend. A convenient schedule is especially important for busy adults, college students, and teens ages 13+.
💻 Online or Self-Study?
Live classes provide structure, speaking practice, and feedback. Self-study offers flexibility and independent learning. You can also combine both.
👧🏻 For Children
Choose a program designed for the child's age and level. Younger children may benefit from shorter, focused lessons, while ages 7+ can gradually develop more structured reading, writing, grammar, and conversation skills.
🇰🇷 At The Korean Tutor, students can choose from online Korean classes for adults, children, and teens, speaking labs, private lessons, and structured self-study programs.

🇰🇷🍚🥢 K-Food: Learn Korean Through Food!
Hello,
Have you noticed how K-Food has become a global phenomenon? From Korean barbecue and bibimbap to tteokbokki, fried chicken, and kimchi, Korean food is now enjoyed around the world.
🍚 A Little K-Food Culture
A Korean meal often includes several 반찬 (banchan), meaning side dishes. Kimchi, vegetables, potatoes, seaweed, and other dishes may be served together and shared.
Food is an important part of Korean social life. Meals bring family and friends together and are often part of celebrations and everyday gatherings.
💬 Today's Korean: 안 vs. 못
안 + Verb means “do not.”
김치를 안 먹어요.
*Gimchireul an meogeoyo.*
I don't eat kimchi.
못 + Verb means “cannot.”
매운 음식을 못 먹어요.
*Maeun eumsigeul mot meogeoyo.*
I can't eat spicy food.
So:
안 먹어요 = I don't eat it.
못 먹어요 = I can't eat it.
🌶️ Try It!
매운 음식 좋아해요?
*Maeun eumsik joahaeyo?*
Do you like spicy food?
네, 좋아해요!
*Ne, joahaeyo!*
Yes, I like it!
아니요, 안 좋아해요.
*Aniyo, an joahaeyo.*
No, I don't like it.

How Much Do Korean Classes Cost? 💰🇰🇷
If you’re wondering, “How much do Korean classes cost?” the answer depends on the class format, lesson length, group size, teacher, materials, and level of support.
💻 Online group Korean classes are often more affordable than private lessons while still providing a teacher, structured curriculum, and speaking practice. 👩🏻🏫 Private Korean lessons offer more personalized attention and flexible scheduling.
📚 Self-study Korean programs can be another flexible option, especially for busy adults and professionals. Look for programs that include organized lessons, textbooks, videos, and a clear learning path.
For children and teens ages 13+, choosing an age- and level-appropriate class is just as important as comparing prices. 🧒🏻🧑🏻🎓
When comparing Korean lesson prices, don’t look only at the dollar amount. Ask:
✔ Is the class right for my level?
✔ Will I practice speaking?
✔ Are learning materials included?
✔ Does the schedule fit my life?
✔ Is there a clear path to the next level?
🇰🇷 At The Korean Tutor, students can choose from live online Korean classes, speaking labs, children’s classes, teen options, private lessons, and self-study programs.

How Long Are Korean Classes? Choosing the Right Class for Your Schedule 🇰🇷
If you're wondering, “How long are Korean classes?” the answer depends on the student, level, goals, and class format.
Online Korean classes may be 15, 25, 30, 40, or 60+ minutes. But the longest class isn't always the best choice. ⏰ A class that fits your schedule is easier to attend consistently—and consistency is essential for language learning.
📚 Short Korean classes can focus on one grammar point, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, or listening. Longer classes may allow more time for conversation, reading, writing, and detailed grammar practice.
👩🏻 For adults and busy professionals, evening or weekend Korean classes can make learning easier to maintain. 🎓 College students and 🧑🏻🎓 teens ages 13+ may also benefit from a schedule that works around school, sports, and activities.
🧒🏻 Children often benefit from shorter, age-appropriate lessons that keep learning focused and engaging.
The key isn't simply counting minutes. Ask:
“Can I attend this class consistently?”
“Does it match my Korean level?”
“Will I have opportunities to speak and practice?”
A simple routine works well:
Class → Review → Practice → Class → Review 🔄
