Altered Tails Project
501(c)(3) non-profit focused on spay, neuter, & TNR (trap, neuter, return) in the Stark County, Ohio area.
The mission of Altered Tails Project is to provide financial assistance for the spaying/neutering of companion animals and free-roaming cats. Our vision is to reduce the number of homeless animals entering our local shelters and ensure the best health of those within homes. We have partnered with local spay/neuter clinics to offer these services at a deeply discounted cost.

Just a reminder that I am not accepting any new TNR requests at this time. I’m only one person, I don’t have any volunteers, and I also work a full-time job. I currently have about 10 projects that I still need to wrap up.
I’m more than happy to offer trapping advice, possibly loan out a trap or two, and help cover TNR expenses when necessary.
We really need more people to take the initiative and get involved. There are so many cats that need help, and I can’t do it alone. Please help us help them. ❤️
Thank you for understanding!

40 CATS. TWO WEEKS. 🐱
Over the last two weeks, Michelle, Massillon’s Animal Control Officer, and I have been working our butts off to TNR 40 cats in our community — and we’re so happy to see that hard work pay off!
The total TNR vet bill for those 40 cats came to $2,471. We would absolutely love to keep this momentum going and continue helping the cats who need us, but we can’t do it without the funds to make it happen.
Our $2,500 matching fundraiser is now less than $600 away from our goal!
If you’ve been waiting for the right time to donate, this weekend is it! Every dollar gets us closer to unlocking the full $2,500 match and means more cats can be spayed/neutered and get the help they need.
Please help us get across the finish line! ❤️🐱

🚨 WE NEED YOUR HELP FOR FRED! 🚨
We’ve partnered with Twenty9 Lives Rescue to help with an emergency situation involving Fred, a very loved, owned cat whose family simply cannot afford the urgent medical care he needs. ❤️🩹
Fred has been dropped off at Humble Creatures Veterinary Clinic for emergency surgery to stitch up a large open wound. He needs to be treated NOW, and we’re expecting the bill to be a few hundred dollars.
This is exactly why we do what we do. Fred has a family who loves him, but sometimes a veterinary emergency is more than a family can financially handle. We don’t want money to be the reason Fred doesn’t get the care he needs.
If you can spare even $5, $10, or $20, it will make a difference. Please help us rally together and get Fred through this emergency. 🙏🐾

We have some good news and some not-so-good news to share…
The not-so-good news is that our TNR funding through the City of Massillon has officially come to an end.
This year, Altered Tails Project, alongside Massillon Animal Control Officer Michelle, was incredibly fortunate to TNR 142 community cats through funding provided by the city. We are SO grateful for their support and for the impact this funding has had on so many cats and community cat caregivers.
There is a possibility that the city’s TNR funding could return next year, but there are no guarantees, so for now, Altered Tails Project will be taking on the responsibility of funding future TNRs within the city. Thankfully, we do have funds available to continue helping — but those funds won’t last forever.
The good news is that we still have Michelle available to trap and transport, which is a HUGE help. She already has 20+ cats lined up to be trapped over the next couple of weeks. 🐈⬛
This is where we really need our community to step up.
Whether you love cats or hate them, TNR is the only humane, effective way to manage community cat populations. Period. These cats aren’t going anywhere, and simply ignoring the problem doesn’t make it go away.
And now for the REALLY good news…
We have been given another incredible matching fundraiser opportunity through Modern Woodmen of America! They will match up to $2,500 in donations raised through our exclusive Zeffy link!
We have until October 11th to raise the full $2,500 match!
As you know, $2,500 can go a LONG way. That’s enough to TNR 48 community cats! 🐱
That means your donation can have DOUBLE the impact. A $25 donation becomes $50. A $50 donation becomes $100. And so on, until we reach that $2,500 match!
We are incredibly grateful for this opportunity and really hope our supporters will come together to help us take full advantage of it. ❤️
Help us keep TNR going in Massillon. Help us reach that $2,500 match. Help us help the cats.
Every single dollar makes a difference. 🐾

🚨 We could really use some help right now. 🚨
Last week was a rough one financially for us. We spent over $1,000 helping cats in need, and unfortunately, we’re not done yet.
Two of the cats rescued by Cat Mom Mafia LLC finally got the dental care they desperately needed. Between cleanings and extractions, they had a pretty big vet bill — but they’re feeling SO much better now and are ready to start looking for their forever homes.
We also got 4 community cats TNR’d, plus had some additional vet expenses from our Massillon TNR projects.
And then there’s this handsome guy… (3rd photo)
I rescued this flame point Siamese mix who was left behind when his owners moved. He’s already been to the vet twice — once for a nasty URI and again to have his a**l glands expressed. He’ll be neutered and vaccinated this week, and then he’ll finally be heading off to his forever home.
And now we have another cat who needs us. 💔
His caregiver has been trying to trap him for WEEKS, and she finally got him. Unfortunately, he is in really bad shape and needs to see a vet ASAP. We’re expecting his bill to be at least $500, but honestly, we won’t know how bad things are until he’s examined.
We’re trying to keep saying yes when cats need help, but the vet bills add up FAST.
If you can spare even $5, it would help us tremendously right now. And if you can’t donate, sharing this post is just as important.
We have a lot of cats counting on us, and right now, we really need our supporters to come through for them.
Thank you for always supporting us and helping us keep going. ❤️🐾
