A powerful tribute honoring the 2,977 lives lost on September 11, 2001. Seeing the Twin Towers represented in lights is a reminder of the lives we lost, the courage shown that day, and the strength of a nation that came together. We remember the victims, their families, and the first responders who ran toward danger to help others. We will never forget. I’m proud to be an American. 🇺🇸

Scientists at Northwestern University have created an experimental drone called Phantom Twist that becomes much harder to see by spinning rapidly in the air.

Instead of using camouflage or special coatings, the drone makes itself difficult to spot by spinning up to 25 times per second. The fast rotation creates a blur that makes it about 10 times harder to notice than a normal drone.

The drone uses one large propeller instead of the usual four. As the propeller spins one way, the rest of the drone spins the opposite way, helping create the effect while keeping it stable in flight.

To build Phantom Twist, the researchers used AI to test around 20,000 different designs before choosing the best one.

People can still hear the drone and cameras and other sensors can still detect it. The goal is simply to make it much less noticeable to the human eye.

Researchers say the technology could be useful for wildlife research, environmental monitoring, and bridge or power line inspections, where a less distracting drone could be an advantage.
