Behind the scenes with our Product Support team preparing control slides. 👩‍🔬🔬
A small technique that makes a big difference: after picking up the tissue section, the slides are dried upside down. This allows excess water and melted paraffin to drain away from the tissue section, helping keep the patient tissue area clean and reducing the chance of artifacts or interference during staining.
Did you know our Product Support team prepares controls in-house for your lab? Our team puts the same care and attention to detail into every control we prepare, helping support your lab’s day-to-day needs.

What difference can the right slide make?
In this new SelectScience feature, Chandra Garrett, Lab Supervisor at Atrium Health, shares how her team improved tissue adhesion, streamlined workflows, and supported their transition to digital pathology by switching to KT Slides.
"We've had better quality in the slides. We've had the tissue stay on the slide so you can actually get a diagnosis. It works no matter what tissue we're putting on that slide." — Chandra Garrett, Lab Supervisor, Atrium Health
See how choosing the right slide helped improve consistency, simplify daily workflows, and build confidence in digital pathology.

A barcode that doesn't scan can slow workflows, increase rework, and introduce unnecessary risk.
Reliable barcode scanning helps laboratories improve workflow efficiency, maintain specimen traceability, reduce rescans, and support patient safety. But what actually drives first-pass scan success?
Our latest white paper explores what's behind barcode performance and explains why the PiSmart printers are engineered to maximize first-pass read rates through optimized contrast, barcode generation, cassette design, and print quality—not simply higher DPI.
