Babies are communicating with us well before they say their first words. But it can be really subtle at first!
Their fussiness can be one clue that something deeper is going on and they may need a little extra support 💫

I know crying in general can be overstimulating 😅 buttt if your baby is basically non-stop crying all day, every day and/or night, they’re sending us a message that something doesn’t feel good in their body! If you notice any of these signs in your baby, getting support sooner rather than later is always recommended! And a feeding evaluation is a great place to start.

Newborn baby volunteers Needed!!
We’re having a baby clinic in my office in Vienna, VA on 10/23-10/24 as part of Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) Therapeutics, an advanced course for infant OTs, PTs and SLPs led by Michelle Emanuel, OTR/L, IBCLC, NBCR, CST (Michelle Emanuel OTR/L IBCLC NBCR CST )
Therapists will assess and treat your baby in person, with Michelle right there guiding them and giving feedback. Please note, this is not a replacement for individual evaluation/therapy.
We’re looking for newborn to pre-crawling babies dealing with things like:
🚩breastfeeding or bottle feeding struggles
🚩fussiness, colic or reflux
🚩food reactivity
🚩tongue ties
🚩head shape concerns
🚩torticollis
🚩tension
…you name it!
The details:
🗓 Friday, Oct 23 + Saturday, Oct 24
🕥 Clinic times both days: 10:30 to 11:30 am and 1:30 to 2:30 pm

My work and personal life have been so intertwined lately, it’s hard not to share.
As embarrassing as this was, I couldn’t be more thankful to be in a safe space for a very unexpected, vulnerable time. The mom I was there to support took care of me. She embraced me with a hug, handed me pads, gave me space to refresh, and let me finish her eval like it was the most normal thing in the world 🥲
To the moms I work with: thank you for the love, understanding, and endless grace through my ups and downs these last two years, even while I’m the one supporting you through feeding challenges 💛
But also…please tell me I’m not the only one with an embarrassing 🩸story 😅🙈
