I’ll be back from vacation this weekend!
My Etsy shop is open again, and orders will ship Monday. Most things are in stock, including this “Realm of Kingfishers” print.
I’ve seen lots of birds here at the Jersey shore: ospreys, oystercatchers, ibises, and pelicans… As well as plenty of dolphins and horseshoe crabs!

The collective noun for a group of wrens is a chime! They seem much louder than a chime to me…
These Carolina wrens are hanging in branches full of turkey tails and lichen. Seems like a cool spot on a summer day. How have you been staying cool this summer?

Tonight’s full moon is the strawberry moon! That’s also the name of this painting. In the past week I’ve seen tons of catbirds, and a piece of catbird egg on the ground. It’s definitely catbird season!

The collective noun for a group of hawks is a kettle! It’s also a verb: if you see a group of hawks swirling and spiraling together during spring or fall migration, they’re kettling.
I drew broad-winged hawks for this illustration, because the biggest kettle I’ve ever seen was hundreds of broad-winged hawks. I paired them with trout lilies. It might seem like a weird choice to pair something on the forest floor with something way up in the sky, but I tend to see them around the same time every spring. I think they work well together.
