Coexistence is a core part of healthy relationships, and understanding it can shift how we interpret conflict, emotions, and connection.

In relational work, we often see that opposing experiences can exist at the same time without canceling each other.

From a therapeutic lens, the ability to hold these dualities is part of emotional regulation and psychological flexibility. When we move away from “either/or” thinking and into “both/and,” we create more space for understanding, repair, and deeper connection.

Not everything that feels uncomfortable is a sign something is wrong. Sometimes, it’s a sign something is being processed.

You ever sit down with your coffee
and realize… you were shrinking
to be chosen or just to feel like you belong?

You called it “being patient”
but it was you overextending.

You called it “understanding”
but it was you self-abandoning.

You called it “love”
but it felt like anxiety more than peace.

And the hardest part?

Nothing was confusing.
You just kept trying to make it work anyway.

Read that again 🌀

Just for today. Repeat 🔁
Something practical and simple that I sometimes share with my clients. The “Just for Today” theory is not about minimizing your goals, it’s about making them emotionally accessible. When everything feels overwhelming, the mind looks for escape. But when you bring it back to today, it becomes something you can hold 🧘🏻‍♀️

Today, you don’t have to figure out your whole life. You just have to take one aligned step ✨

Where would you begin? ✨

And then tomorrow…you do it again 🔁

There are versions of me I had to outgrow to become who I am today.
Versions that coped the best way they knew how. Most of the time weren’t healthy ways.
Versions that loved deeply, even when it hurt. I stayed too. I know how it can be.
Versions that stayed longer than they should have. Even with family.

And if I’m honest…
sometimes I still miss them.

Not because I want to go back,
but because they were familiar and that’s all I knew.
Because they carried me through seasons
I didn’t know how else to survive.

Growth doesn’t mean you stop grieving who you used to be.
It means you learn to honor… without abandoning yourself now.

I am learning to appreciate who I am becoming,
without rushing the process.
Without comparing to who I was (constant process).

Both can exist.
Gratitude for who I was.
Hope for who I am becoming.
And presence with who I am today.

What version of yourself are you learning to release? Let me know in the comments 🎯
