Darlings. We will never have it all figured out. We will not have 100% certainty.

Maybe you feel something in your life is on the precipice of change, but confronting what needs to change is scary.

How do we ride the waves of uncertainty and live the questions, until we finally one day live ourselves into the next set of answers?

There are many strategies here including therapy, coaching, journaling, talking with friends.

Here is one tool to use between those activities, when you are alone, when all you have is you and yourself: metta.

The Buddha taught a lovely antidote to fear, and a way to elegantly be here with all the messiness. Metta (loving kindness meditation).

If you are feeling the fear of the unknown, in the middle of the night, first thing in the morning or anytime, you may try repeating this phrases:

May my heart be held in loving kindness.
May I hold my struggles with ease.

And know, you are never alone in this.

Can I share a secret?

I was thinking about this social media post during my meditation this morning!

Yep. My mind was planning.

That’s the story of our mind. It plans. It thinks. It worries.

But having a meditation practice is STILL beneficial even if you think you suck at it! And I’ll tell ya why.

When you sit still and recognize thoughts and feel feelings and do nothing to act on them, something amazing happens.

You realize you are not your thoughts, you are not your emotions.

And what is that? It’s FREEDOM! It’s what the Buddha called being unidentified.

Like a tree, you let the winds of thought and emotion blow your branches, sway you, lean on you. You grow stronger and wiser and sturdier.

Try meditation. You don’t need a still mind to reap the benefits, just the intention to come back to NOW over and over again.

I run a free monthly meditation group in Melrose MA. Contact me to join! Virtual series coming soon.

Food is PLEASURE. That is not a problem, that is beautiful!

What are we here for if not to enjoy this wild and crazy life?

Mindful nourishment is a silent eating experience with light direction of where to place attention.

Would you believe how much pleasure the mind and body derive from food when we allow ourselves to slow down and taste it?

The shadow side can arise too- I shouldn’t take so my pleasure in food. I always eat too much. I’m afraid I’ll gain weight. I feel uncomfortable being so ‘in my body’.

All of this will be explored in our upcoming Home Inside Virtual Meditation Community.

Mindfulness in daily life to soften difficult and intense emotions. Look around and recognize that all other people have struggles too. That all the other cats know traffic have people in them trying to get home to someone they love. That you are part of the common humanity that includes joy and suffering and the entirety of the of the human experience. You are not alone.

Mindfulness in daily life to bring relief from and worry. You don’t need twenty minutes in a cushion. Just two minutes, a walk to the bathroom, and a commitment to return your attention over and over to an anchor of your choice. The it brings is freedom! You get to choose whether to engage in thoughts or not. You are not your thoughts.

👋 hey!

I’m creating something here for everyone who carries pain and shame and just wants a place to put it because it’s heavy to carry alone. Because you know there is SO MUCH lightness and love and joy in you too. But you feel it is covered and buried beneath the heavy.

I am creating a community to be with is here. With what is real. And to be together in it.

Whether you’re going through divorce, loss, career change, grief, addictive behaviors (drinking, drugs, binge eating, shopping, s*x) numbing out… whatever.

The shame finds a home here- in the light 💡 of our collective loving hearts.

So we can shine our lights 💡 into the world.

Why me? I went through big loss and fear at a young age. Mom died. Dad remarried. (Yay new mom for me!). Dad divorced. Dad moved away and dropped me at loving but practical strangers’ home to live (gratitude to that tremendous family).

I was alone. I survived. Not without so much sadness, shame, anxiety.

The only tools that are helping in my adult life as I unpack the baggage and live a life that is mine, where decisions are made with love and not fear?

Seeing what is here. Being kind to it. Talking about it with non-judging others. Believing in myself. Finding others who believe in me.

In other words? Mindfulness meditation, therapy, community.

Mindful, honest, community is what I am building. Who says group like AA need to only exist for folks dealing with alcohol addiction? My opinion? We all need the support, the community, the places to be real.

Follow along on my journey as I build!

PS You’re gonna see me showing up like this a lot. Morning hair. No makeup. Pajama shirt.

My kind and creative thoughts come in these morning hours when my son is at daycare and the house is mind and I have not yet started my work day.

Love 💕

My life at 38!

Pursuing for real the starting of a female owned business dedicated to serving others in their relationship with food and with themselves. Healing that starts with food but finishes with the stars ✨

Taking clients on Nourish starting next week who want to find more peace and ease of body and mind when it comes to eating. Pediatric and adult clients.

Finishing up my meditation teacher training and facilitating two meditation communities- one at work and one in my synagogue 🕍

Being a mom to a wild and loving little almost-3-year-old boy.

Commuting 🚗 2.5 hrs per day, twice a week into my day-job and doing the good work of helping patients in the kitchen, building community and celebrating food an culture.

And most of all- ready to live courageously, as me, and give what I’ve got and live fully. Realizing the self doubt is really just a story. I’ll laugh and I’ll cry at it but I will keep going. Ready to share the metamorphosis here.

The antidote to self-doubt? Remember your goodness. Remember your beautiful intentions. Remember, the doubt is just a story the mind tells you- not the truth.

💜 Dolly Parton I love you and thank you for inspiring me with your larger than life ability to cultivate joy and friendships and playfulness AND have the drive to pursue your vision.

Reminder to all those like me, for whom suffering can come more naturally than joy- and we come by this honestly- we can actually cultivate joy. Whatever that looks like for each one of us. Let’s let Dolly be an inspiration.

Today let’s do one thing just for the joy and fun of it.

Dolly Parton ✨
