GIP_Financials
GIP Financials empowers entrepreneurs to know their numbers and get the funding they deserve.
We serve small businesses and nonprofits with bookkeeping, tax filing, funding assistance, and finance education.
You keep applying for grants. You keep getting nothing. And nobody will tell you why. ๐
So let me say the quiet part out loud: it's your books.
Not the funder. Not your mission. Not the fact that nobody explained the process to you.
If you haven't invested in getting your financials organized, you don't have the presence to present yourself to a lender or a grantor. Your numbers have to be there โ and they have to tell a story of what you need.
Grant readiness starts with book readiness.
Real question for you ๐ Have you ever applied for a grant and never found out why you were denied? Tell me below โ I read every comment.
Do you know how much Square took from you last year? ๐ธ
Here's the math nobody runs:
Someone buys from you for $100. You get $97. That $3 is a merchant fee โ and it's 100% tax-deductible.
Now multiply that by every swipe, every checkout, every transaction this year. For a lot of business owners that's thousands of dollars in deductions they never claimed.
Why? Because the fee came out BEFORE the deposit hit the bank. Out of sight, out of mind, out of your pocket.
Pull your merchant statements. Add up the fees. Hand them to your tax preparer and watch what happens.
Comment below ๐ โ do you use Square, Stripe, PayPal, or something else? Curious what most of you are running.
Quick question: do you know the difference between a bookkeeper, a tax preparer, a tax planner, and a CPA? ๐ค
Most business owners don't. And that's how they end up overpaying, under-planning, and stuck with one person doing a job that actually takes four.
Here's the ONE question to ask each one before you hire:
๐ BOOKKEEPER โ How often are you going over financial reports with me?
๐ TAX PREPARER โ Do you file Schedule C or 1120 for my business type?
๐ TAX PLANNER โ Do you cover retirement, generational wealth, long-term strategy?
๐ CPA โ Have you worked with entrepreneurs in my industry?
Different jobs. Different people. Different price points. ALL essential.
Drop a ๐ฏ in the comments if you learned something โ and tag a business owner who needs to see this.
Have you ever hired a grant writer and still got rejected? ๐๐ฝโโ๏ธ
Here's what nobody tells you: grants aren't free. You still have to do the work.
You can't take the proposal from a tech grant and use it for a workforce development grant. Funders read every word โ and they know when your program doesn't match what you're asking for.
And if you're thinking a grant writer will fix it? They're not miracle workers. They can't create your program out of thin air. They can't create your impact.
They can only tell the story of the impact you've ALREADY made.
So here's my question for you ๐
Have you applied for a grant and gotten rejected without knowing why? Tell me in the comments โ I read every one.

A W-9 is not a form you want to complete by guessing.
For single-member LLC owners, the information entered must reflect how the business is reported for tax purposes.
Using inconsistent names or taxpayer identification information may create problems when the payer issues tax documents later.
Take a few extra minutes to review the form before submitting it.
Before sending your next W-9, compare it with your tax records. Do the name, business classification, and taxpayer ID information match?
Your numbers tell you how the business performed.
They do not tell you who you are.
If your business has a net operating loss, that information should help you evaluate, adjust, and make better decisions.
It should not become a label you place on yourself.
A loss does not make you a loser.
You can acknowledge what happened without allowing it to define you.
Think about your hardest business season. What did it teach you that a profitable season never could? Your answer may encourage another entrepreneur today.
A great business idea is important.
But bankers arenโt funding ideas based on hopes and wishes alone.
They want to see your numbers, understand your cash flow, review a clear plan, and know how their money will be repaid.
You may not need an overwhelming 50-page business plan.
You do need enough financial clarity to confidently explain how your business operates.
Review your funding documents today. Which one is currently missing: updated numbers, cash-flow records, a short business plan, or a repayment strategy?
A revenue dip doesnโt always mean your business is failing.
But lenders, investors, and pitch judges will want to know what happened.
Be prepared to explain the challenge, the action you took, and the measurable wins that followed.
Your numbers tell the story.
Your responsibility is to understand and communicate it clearly.
Look at your last six months of revenue. What is one dip you can explain and one win you can prove?
Going back to work wasnโt the end of the business.
It was a responsible decision made while the vision continued to grow.
We often celebrate the entrepreneur who leaves the job, but we donโt talk enough about the entrepreneur who creates stability, adjusts the plan, and keeps building.
Changing your strategy does not mean abandoning your dream.
What decision once looked like a step backward but ultimately moved you forward? Share your experience belowโsomeone else may need your perspective.
Imagine sitting down to organize five years of business records and realizing every personal and business transaction has been mixed together.
At that point, itโs no longer bookkeeping.
Itโs a Netflix documentary. ๐ฉ๐ฌ
Separating your finances gives you a clearer picture of what your business earns, spends, and keeps.
Check your last 10 transactions. If personal and business expenses are mixed, comment โCLEANUPโ and make today the first day of doing it differently.
