This past week Kate enjoyed some activities at St. Jude’s and reading to Rowdy. She is now inpatient for round 9. Her nurse put up this sign for her in her hospital room- so sweet and amazing!!!

This is a picture from last week when Kate was inpatient….
For me, this is childhood cancer. A 10-year-old-learning how to put on make up in a hospital bed instead of being at school with her friends. Cancer is not fair. It doesn’t care that we have had to change our lives, separate our family, learn how to be braver than we thought we could be or ever wanted to be.
There are many days when I just think, “I don’t want to do this anymore.” But I know that’s not an option. God has placed this obstacle in our path for a reason, though I’m not sure why… but I do know that we are strong enough to get through it. Some days, I struggle. Some days I feel alone. It’s hard not having my mom alive to help us. To hold the memories of how cancer took her. Her battle was not filled with as much hope as Kate’s, but she was a fighter nonetheless. Kate is so much like her grandma, and she is named after her- Kathryn Ann- Brave, determined, strong, generous, loving, and witty. 🩷🩷🩷

Getting an infusion of fluids with potassium and magnesium 2 days ago. The infusion lasts a little over 2 hours. Kate kept herself busy eating snacks and watching her iPad.

St. Jude’s had a fashion show a couple weeks ago. Kate designed and made her “caterfly”costume, complete with a tail. I worked on making Jeremy’s costume for him since I knew I would not be here for it. He was a good sport wearing his cat-erpillar costume!!! I was sad to miss it, but thankful for the pictures. They had a lot of fun!

Kate was discharged from the hospital yesterday after being kept one extra day because of a possible line infection that turned out to be just a surface contaminant on the line.
Kate’s dad and brother are here a few days, and we were able to get out and do something fun together last night. Memphis Escape Rooms gives free tickets to St. Jude patients. We escaped from the room “One Night in the 90s.” Kate was really good at figuring out clues! Luke was not quite so good, but kept us entertained with his dance moves!!!
Today, we have been letting Kate rest so hopefully we can do something together tomorrow before they have to head back home.
Please continue prayers that Kate continues to do well and the nausea remains under control! 🙏🏻
