Meet Stoney Ramsey 👋

Stoney is our director of Adult Education and has helped students pass the HiSET through HopeWorks for the last 6 years!

Over the years, HopeWorks has shown Stoney that everyone deserves a second, third – and beyond – chance to build a better life for themselves and their family. This is what HopeWorks is all about!

His favorite places in Memphis are Ruth's Chris Steak House, Graceland and any historical place. He’s also a self-proclaimed history buff!

HopeWorks is incredibly proud of our student, Valentin Galvez, who has been studying English in our Adult Education and English as a Second Language classes for the past three years. During that time, he participated in digital literacy and conversation practice classes, as well as a painting apprenticeship program through HopeWorks.

This apprenticeship provided him with valuable skills and experience that led to an opportunity with a specialty contracting company, where he now works as a glazier, installing specialty glass for windows and doors, and contributing to the redevelopment project at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium.

Reflecting on his journey, Valentin shared, “God helped me realize that I can succeed in this country. I am very grateful to God and to HopeWorks.” Now he has helped his son sign up for the program, following in his footsteps.

Valentin’s story is a wonderful example of how determination, education and opportunity can open doors to a brighter future.

It's been a little over two months since our ribbon cutting for our reentry housing facility, Next Story.

Currently, Next Story is housing several men transitioning from prison, providing job support and life skills training.

We can't wait to see what the future holds for these men. You can read more about our reentry program here: https://www.whyhopeworks.org/reentry/
