MIRROR, MIRROR ON THE WALL… 🪞

If I could speak to the 6 or 7-year-old me in this picture, I’d tell her:

Be kind to yourself, baby girl. There’s a whole world waiting to be unkind. Don’t join them.

Be gentle with your words. What you say, you begin to believe. What you believe, you internalize. And what you internalize, you eventually walk in.

Your words travel from your lips, to your ears, and settle into your heart. Be careful what you deposit there.

And I’d tell her: YOU matter. Not just what you can do, carry, fix or become for everybody else. You.

Put your own mask on first sometimes. You can love people without rescuing them. You can say no and still be good. And baby girl, you do not have to be anybody’s savior. That position has already been filled.

Above every other voice, believe what God says about you.

And when she finally asked me, “Do we make it?”

I’d smile and say:

Baby, we make it.
With some scars. With some tears. But we make it.

And one day, you become the woman that little girl would feel safe with. ❤️
