“Memphis understands the power of art to tell a story bigger than the canvas, and few works of art carry a story quite like the Federal Duck Stamp. Since 1934, this small stamp has generated more than $1.3 billion and helped conserve more than 6 million acres of wetland habitat. On September 24 and 25, Ducks Unlimited is proud to welcome the nation’s premier wildlife art competition to our national headquarters, where we will select the next Federal Duck Stamp. The judging is open to the public, and I hope our Memphis neighbors will join us to see history in the making and celebrate the remarkable connection between art, our sporting heritage, and conservation for generations to come.” - Adam Putnam, CEO, Ducks Unlimited

“Autumn is a time for harvesting and I can certainly get behind that energy. Let’s harvest some inspiration, y'all! Let’s nourish our souls with the creative gifts our talented community has to offer. And of course, I am full of gratitude and excitement for the opportunities granted to me to share my creative gifts with this community. Find me this weekend at Cooper-Young Fest inside Heirloom House before my new show opens next week in Levy Gallery at the Buckman Performing and Fine Arts Center!” - Lauren Cannon, Artist | Educator

We had much to "shellebrate" on Sunday night at the Overton Park Shell, recognizing not only the 90th anniversary of this beloved live music venue and community hub but also our ARTSmemphis contributors, whose financial support has enabled our mission to reach more Memphians than ever. Let’s keep recognizing all that makes Memphis a thriving arts & culture destination.

"As a born and raised Memphian, one of the many things that I love most about our city is our vibrant arts community. The arts are so important to the fabric of Memphis and I love getting to be a tiny part of it! As the Overton Park Shell officially celebrates 90 years of building community through music this weekend, I hope that everyone will join us as we continue to honor the mayor's original proclamation for the Shell back on September 13th, 1936: a pledge for the future of Memphis music. We have a little bit of something for everyone to continue to honor that pledge, so come join us all weekend to be a part of this celebration yourself!” - Emma Less, Senior Manager of Development, Overton Park Shell

“If it were any other weekend, my recommendations would include a more diverse selection of the amazing cultural events happening throughout our great city. But this weekend, all roads lead to metal! Join us for new exhibitions, demonstrations, live music, and more as we open in Overton Park with the ringing of an anvil at noon on Saturday; explore Seams: Work by the Metal Museum Staff at Rhodes College’s Clough-Hanson Gallery; take a copper jewelry class with Brandy Boyd; and for one night only, celebrate with us as we embrace another type of “heavy” metal at the Overton Park Shell’s Metal Night.” - Carissa Hussong, Executive Director, Metal Museum
