Who said learning Jiu-Jitsu can’t be fun?
This is our "bull fighter pass" drill, a fun movement game that helps kids develop real Jiu-Jitsu skills while they’re having a blast.
They’re working on:
🥋 Toreando passing movement
⚡ Speed & reaction
🧠 Timing & coordination
⏰️ Time management drilling
●Top player: start with pant grips and keeps out horns whipping legs side to side walking towards the head
●bottom player: Making hooks (horns) behind their partners knees for 5 seconds to win the round
The best part?
They’re learning Jiu-Jitsu without it feeling like work.
At Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu Merced, we use drills, games, positional training, and live movement to help kids build real Jiu-Jitsu skills while developing confidence, discipline, and resilience.

Jiu-Jitsu doesn’t always look like what you think it does. 🥋
Sometimes it looks like kids chasing each other around the mat, laughing, scrambling, and trying to tag their training partner.
This is "Catch me if you can" a fun and simple game that gets our kids moving while teaching them skills they’ll use in Jiu-Jitsu:
●Rock paper scissors. ➡️Winner is "it"
●10 seconds to tag the other player
●winner stays in or we choose another group

Because kids learn best when they’re having fun and don’t even realize how much they’re learning.

What system have we been working?

They’ll grow up together no matter what but imagine if they grew stronger together, too. 🥋
Siblings will argue. They’ll compete. They’ll push each other’s buttons. 😂
But when they grow up training Jiu-Jitsu together, they also learn how to encourage each other, overcome challenges, celebrate each other’s wins, and keep showing up when things get hard.
The mats become more than a place to train.
They become a place where memories are made, confidence is built, and a bond gets stronger with every class.
One day, they’ll look back and realize they weren’t just training Jiu-Jitsu together…
They were growing up together.

5 things I wish I knew before I put my kids in Jiu-Jitsu.
🥋
When we first started, I thought about all the things that could be difficult.
They might get tired.
They might get frustrated.
They might struggle.
They might lose.
They might not want to keep going.
But I’ve learned that those aren't necessarily the problems.
Those are the opportunities.
Jiu-Jitsu gives kids a place to learn how to listen, work through frustration, handle challenges, make mistakes, lose with humility, and keep showing up.
The goal isn't to make everything easier for our kids.
It's to help them become capable of handling the hard things.
And the lessons they learn on the mats don't just stay on the mats.
