The defaming, especially that of individuals by name, must stop. We are taking a firm stand on this to protect and ensure the newer generation of organizers is not targeted in this way in the future, feel safe to participate in the discussion, and have their voices heard, too.

LGBTQ Merced stands with Palestine and calls for all agencies to divest from Israel.

The Merced Focus put out an article recently highlighting CalPride and Katalina Zambrano, which fails to mention any of the other q***r advocacy orgs in Merced and the work they do presently or have done historically. Our leadership team has decided it is time to speak the truth about CalPride. When CalPride's executive director was arrested for soliciting s*x from minors in 2024, we were silent because we thought CalPride would finally just leave Merced County. But they didn't. They quietly rebranded, and stayed. And continued to be given Merced County money without a competitive process. We think Merced deserves to know. Because it has literally never been said.

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, the day enslaved people in America were finally freed. Juneteenth was recognized as a federal holiday years ago. However, despite months of advocacy by local unions, the Merced County Board of Supervisors refuses to recognize it. We suggest everyone ask them why?
