What does more than 60 years of community partnership look like?
It looks like more than 2,600 MUHSD students taking a Merced College course in 2025–26. It looks like local employers such as Laird Manufacturing regularly hiring from Merced College CTE programs. It looks like nursing and radiology students crossing G Street to gain hands-on experience at Mercy Medical Center. And it looks like Merced Fire growing from one paramedic-firefighter before the college’s paramedic program to 20 today.
These partnerships didn’t happen overnight. Since 1962, Merced College has grown alongside our community — listening to its needs, building relationships and creating new opportunities for the people who call this region home.
Today, that work can be seen throughout Merced County: in our schools, hospitals, businesses, public safety agencies and communities.
More than 60 years later, we’re still here — growing together.

Before the performances, the applause and the memories, there was an empty stage waiting for its first story.
Completed for use in fall 1972, the Merced College Theater opened that October with The Puffets, described at the time as “a multimedia review of human-sized puppets.”
More than 50 years later, the productions and faces have changed, but the magic of seeing that curtain rise remains.

Their Merced College story started with them, but it didn’t end there.
After attending Merced College themselves, five of their six children followed in their footsteps. Now, they’ve honored all six with a plaque on the Alumni Trident.

As we prepare to open our doors, new murals are taking shape both inside the center and on the outdoor basketball court — bringing art, energy and a sense of community to the space.
These are just a few of the details that will make the South Merced Center a place created for learning, connection and community.
We can't wait for you to see the finished murals in person.

From Blue Devil student-athlete to a lifetime of impact in the community.
When Sandy Del Real arrived at Merced College in 1984, she found more than a place to continue her education. She found teammates, professors and experiences that helped shape the person and business leader she would become.
A former Blue Devil volleyball player, Sandy says Merced College helped bring her out of her shell and introduced her to people and perspectives different from her own. After continuing her education at Fresno State and beginning her career, she eventually returned home to join her family business, Live Oak Farms.
Today, Sandy is a managing partner and co-owner of Live Oak Farms, where her family’s connection to Merced College spans generations — and the company continues its long history of supporting the college and the local community.
More than 40 years after Sandy first stepped onto campus, that Blue Devil connection is still growing.
