We kicked off the month of March with our annual Law Day! UC Merced students spent the day at the courthouse, starting with a light breakfast before observing a felony courtroom, where they witnessed motions and daily hearings firsthand. The day concluded with an engaging panel featuring local prosecutors, Merced County attorneys, and presiding judges. This event was designed to expose students to the legal field, and we hope they enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this day possible—especially the Merced Superior Court staff for their warm welcome each year. We’re thrilled with the turnout and look forward to hosting more events soon! ⚖️

Today, April 18, 2025, the Honorable Chamandeep Johal was sworn in to serve as the 43rd judge of the County of Merced. She will be serving Merced County by presiding over Family Law matters starting Monday, April 21, 2025.

Judge Johal served as the first Treasurer of the Merced County Unity Bar in 2023. We are so proud to see another highly qualified and competent Unity Bar member enrich the bench with their expertise, representation, and commitment to justice!
