The 2021 Run for the Fallen will be held on Sunday, November 7 at Merced College (3600 M Street, Merced, CA). Merced Sunrise Rotary will honor the local Fallen Heroes in a short ceremony before the run starts. The ceremonies will begin at 8:45am and the race will start at 9am. Gold Star Father Joel Richards, passed away Sunday April 13, 2025 with his loved ones around him. Joel rang the Victory bell and went to be with his Lord and Savior. Joel had cancer for the past 14 months. He made it a purpose to uplift others and share the love and hope of Jesus with everyone he encountered. He had a positive outlook and he impacted so many lives. Joel worked hard alongside his wife Anita organizing the Run for the Fallen in Merced for nine years honoring and remembering not only his son, SSG Frank Gasper but all Soldiers of Merced County. Joel will be missed greatly.
