A Martial Arts Teachers association that verifies one's teaching status (current or not), rank, moral integrity and trust within the martial arts community
If you are a martial arts teacher that desires to teach outside of your dojo, such as on public school campuses, boys and girls clubs, etc., then being a member of a martial arts association that can verify your credentials can be of service to you. There are moments in life when words never seem fully enough, and for me, receiving these certificates from my teacher Richard B. Lenchus, is one of those moments.
When I first stepped onto the martial arts path many years ago, I could never have imagined the journey ahead — the training, sacrifices, friendships, lessons, hardships, and personal growth that would come to define so much of my life.
Through those years, O’Sensei was not simply an instructor to me. He became a guide, a mentor, and a steady influence whose teachings reached far beyond technique or rank.
To receive the title of Hanshi and the rank of Hachidan from him carries a meaning difficult to describe.
These certificates are not about status or recognition alone.
They represent trust, loyalty, perseverance, and a lifetime dedicated to preserving the spirit of traditional Karate-Dō.
O’Sensei , thank you for believing in me throughout the years.
Thank you for your patience during difficult times.
Thank you for your friendship, your counsel, and your unwavering dedication to the martial arts and to your students.
The lessons you gave me were not only punches, kicks, kata, or discipline.
You taught character, humility, respect, and the importance of carrying oneself with dignity. Those lessons remain with me every day of my life.
I also reflect today on the lineage that connects us — from Gichin Funakoshi, through Kenjiro Kawanabe, to Richard B. Lenchus — and I feel humbled and deeply honored to continue walking that path.
These certificates will forever hold a special place in my heart, not because of the titles written on them, but because of the man who presented them to me and the journey we shared together.
With heartfelt gratitude, respect, and loyalty always,
Hanshi Carlos Varon
