Magnolia Cemetery Beautification Project
An effort to improve Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian, MS
This is so special. US and military service flags mounted by Laura Storey Furline and friends. God bless America for another 250 years.
I am very disappointed to announce that we are going to cancel our work morning this coming Saturday at Magnolia Cemetery. The forecast for Saturday morning looks too iffy at this point and we need time to get the word out. Please stay tuned! Thank you for your interest and we will reschedule at a later date. Many thanks to Laura Storey Furline of Under the Weeping Willows for her flexibility.

Save the date: Saturday, May 2, 9am-noon.
Work morning at Magnolia Cemetery.
This will be a different kind of work morning. We will be shown how to properly clean a headstone by Laura Furline who volunteers countless hours cleaning headstones at Magnolia and other area cemeteries. We will start out at the veteran’s area, near the flagpole and then people can move on to clean the headstones of their loved ones or others they see needing cleaning.
We will supply brushes and cleaning solution. We are asking volunteers to bring 2 gallons of water and an empty spray bottle.

It’s amazing how many famous people are buried in Magnolia Cemetery. The bios of many noteworthy people can be found at: https://magnoliameridian.com/history-of-magnolia-cemetery/
Family, friends and supporters gathered Tuesday morning at Magnolia Cemetery to pay tribute to Meridian music legend John Christopher Ethridge II, honoring what would have been his 79th birthday.
The tribute took place at 11 a.m., with attendees laying flowers at Ethridge’s gravesite in remembrance of his life, music and lasting influence. Ethridge was born Feb. 10, 1947, and died April 23, 2012.
Alana Broughton, executive director of the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation, said the gathering reflected Meridian’s deep musical roots and the role artists like Ethridge have played in shaping the city’s cultural identity.
