My last video dropped me off on the wrong side of social media & I wanted to clear things up. Whatever you fear about MS, is quiet in your own home. Now, let me get back to the art.

Drop the most outrageous stereotypes you’ve heard about Mississippi below. I want to hear them!🤣

My work is about showing the real Sipp and showcasing the pride, beauty, and love to be found here. I want southern folks to see their families, their upbringing, and their home in my paintings and feel a sense of belonging and pride.

I hope you follow along to see more of what I’m working on.🌲

What do y’all think? Is our territorial-ness over our fishing spots just because we want some peace or is it something deeper??

Strongly agree.

It’s hard to be sad on a fishing bank.🥰💁🏽‍♀️

Close Ups of “Where Y’all Be Fishing At?”

As a professional painter, some paintings feel like work. This wasn’t one of them. I found myself looking forward to working on the sky, water, and reel. Working on this made me feel like I was out there, standing at the edge of the water, sitting on a bucket, smelling like bugspray.

It reminded me of my fishing trips growing up and my fishing trips now. How much has changed, and what’s still the same. I still don’t touch the fish with my bare hand, but my daddy doesn’t take my fish off much these days, my husband does.

We don’t spend hours cleaning fish every weekend. I can afford to throw them back now. I still love a closed Zebco Fishing reel, but I’ll fly cast or use an open face reel too.

I don’t beg my daddy to put the worm on the hook anymore or wait for him to fix my line. Now, I’m the one fixing the line for my little cousins, nephews, and my son. I’m grown with long manicured fingernails, but I’m still that little girl who won’t touch the fish but out fishes everyone but my Mama.

What’s your fishing story?
