The first rule is: don't chase a response. If you send a text and she doesn't answer, don't follow it up with another message asking why she hasn't responded, or send something random just to get her attention. You don't need to manufacture a conversation every time there is silence. Let the conversation breathe. Being interested is attractive; needing constant reassurance that the other person is still interested is what can make you come across as desperate. If she's busy, she'll respond when she can. If she's genuinely interested, you don't have to convince her to be.
The second rule is to match the energy you're receiving. If you're sending paragraphs and she's replying with three words, don't respond by sending even more. If she's playful, be playful. If she's asking questions and keeping the conversation going, engage with her. You should be contributing to the conversation rather than carrying it on your back. Also, don't overthink every response or try to engineer the "perfect" text. Say what you actually want to say, and then move on with your day. Your life shouldn't stop while you're waiting for someone to text you back.
Finally, don't be afraid to be direct. Desperation isn't saying, "I'd like to see you." Desperation is repeatedly trying to get someone to choose you after they've shown little interest. If you want to see her, ask her out. If she says yes, make a plan. If she says she's busy, give her the opportunity to suggest another time. If she doesn't, take the hint and move on. The mindset should be: "I like you, and I'd enjoy spending time with you, but I'm completely fine if you don't feel the same way." That's the difference between pursuing someone and chasing someone.
