By now we’d made floyd miami home.

One anniversary, two flyers, and a lineup that felt like a family reunion. Sports Wax, DJ Masda, and DJ Fitness helped us celebrate eight years of records, friendships, and late nights in downtown Miami.

Looking back through the archives and finding flyers from our first few anniversary parties, and everything in between, has been a trip. From Olympic rings on a yellow flyer, to questionable graphic design decisions, to AE86s, Roman statues, random sports icons, and secret locations.

Sports Records is back on the pitch for its 6th installment — a five-track heater from the legendary SkyJoose. A true veteran of the game, SkyJoose has been running the field since 1989, racking up a discography that spans Jungle, 2-step, and UKG with championship-level precision. Known for his prolific output and rare collector’s cuts, he’s still pushing the tempo with fresh, limited-run vinyl and digital drops. The Miami New times 2023 Record Label of The Year is making its debut this weekend. Kyle b2b Jacob, 1130-1 AM on the Players Club stage.

Sports restructuring front office in moves they say will bring franchise into ‘21st century’.

“These moves fit the vision,” Friedland said Tuesday in his Surfside office. “This is the way I think a 21st century Sports team, with these kinds of projects on the horizon, needs to be set up.”

Sports Records, spearheaded by Kyle Parker and Jacob Friedland, has generated nine releases, 50+ parties, and an unmistakable house sound that is sleek and sexy. Turntable fodder aside, the label is known for its funk-filled parties at Floyd and at warehouses across the Magic City, so the uninitiated will have plenty of opportunities to savor their production cred.

We’re also celebrating our 8 Year anniversary this year with DJ Masda at November 15.
