Writing has always been one of the ways I serve, and I’m grateful my Sanford Herald column allows me to shine a light on organizations doing meaningful work in our community.

This week, that story is Feed and Fortify | Central Florida . Because beyond the ballroom are real families, real needs, and real opportunities to make a difference.

Some days become history. Others become part of our story forever.

I wrote about 9.11.01 in Enough with the Secrets, Mama! because that day became part of my own journey of resilience and courage.

Amid the fear and uncertainty, I remember one thought above all: I just wanted to get home to my baby. Motherhood took over.

Twenty-five years later, I’m reminded that courage isn’t always fearless. Sometimes, it’s holding your people closer, finding gratitude in the midst of uncertainty, and continuing forward when the world suddenly feels different.

We remember. We honor. And we keep going. 🤍

Some words are simply meant to leave you.

I’m deeply grateful to Zibby Owens and the Zibby team for giving my essay, “When Success Stops Being Enough,” a home in Between Chapters.

I wrote these words from a chapter I’m still living… because apparently God doesn’t always wait for the lesson to be finished before asking us to share it. 😂

My prayer is that they find and bless whoever needs them.

Caregiving has a way of showing us just how deeply we can love, and reminding us that even love has human limits.
