Before I ever choose a paint color, I pay attention to the light.
Light is one of the few design elements that changes by the hour. It shapes how we experience color, texture, and even the mood of a room.
The same paint can feel fresh and uplifting in the morning, warm and inviting in the afternoon, and quiet and intimate by evening. That’s why selecting a color from a tiny paint chip under artificial lighting tells you very little about how it will actually live in your home.
Every design decision exists in relationship to something else. Color responds to light. Materials reflect it. Texture softens it. Furniture can either support it or interrupt it.
When I’m designing, I’m not just asking, “Is this the right color?”
I’m asking, “Is this the right color for this room, in this light?”
Because the best rooms don’t fight the light.
They work with it.

I read houses. Yep, I said it. It sounds "woo woo" and weird but here we are and I’ll tell you what I know.
A home is alive. It has an energetic signature that forms over time from the energetic patterns and interactions of the humans that live within its walls. So before design comes energy. Energy first, always.
This is why a space can look good, but not hold space for people to gather. When the energetics are off kilter, it doesn't matter how nice the finishes are, no one will want to stay. It's a subtle but powerful communication and most of us can't put our finger on it. We just go somewhere else that feels better in our nervous system.
The very first step of my design process is tuning in and sensing what I feel in my body when I am in a new space. The home tells me a story. Sometimes specific, sometimes general. From there I interpret what exists and what is needed and how to deliver what is needed.
What I know to be true is, the home holds our energetic codes. Both positive and negative, and nothing is permanent. All energy is malleable and can be transmuted. So I serve and correct the energy first. Sometimes I do it through ceremony, sometimes through design, and sometimes through both. It depends what the space is asking me for. When the energy is clear, design flows.

I want a home that is alive. Beautiful design and real life can, and should, coexist.
The best spaces have personality. A favorite chair that gets used every day. Books left on the coffee table. Art that means something. A blanket that's always within reach. Evidence of the people who live there.
Your home doesn't need to look perfect to feel intentional. In fact, often it's the quirks and imperfections that make a space feel the most inviting.
A home that looks like everyone else's is a catalog picture. Create the room that can't be sold.

Sometimes the best design decision isn’t adding something new. It’s learning how to listen.
A dark corner might be asking for light.
A space that feels heavy might be asking for less.
A room that feels cold might be asking for warmth—not through more things, but through texture, natural materials, and the way light moves across them.
Sometimes a home isn’t asking to be redesigned at all. It’s asking for its true potential to be revealed.
Before I make recommendations, I spend time listening. Not just to my clients, but to the space itself. I notice where my eye gets stuck, where movement feels interrupted, where the energy feels calm—or where it doesn’t.
Design isn’t just about creating something beautiful. It’s about recognizing what a space is trying to become and helping it get there.
Good design doesn’t begin with answers. It begins with paying attention.
For me good design is looking beyond what we can see with the eyes and tuning in to how it feels in the body.
I listen for the whispers. The way light moves in the leaves, how textures feel, how the space flows pulling me from one area to another, what catches my eye even if it's not meant to.
Every home, like every person, has its own rhythm. I listen closely to both and create spaces that feel intentional, natural, and connected to the way you live, and who you want to be.

When you think about your dream home, what do you picture?
Beautiful furniture? A certain color palette? The perfect kitchen?
Those things matter, but I like to start somewhere else:
How do you want your home to feel?
Calm. Grounded. Energizing. Cozy. Connected. Inspired. Restful.
The feeling you want to create can guide so many of the decisions that come next, from the light and materials you choose to the way furniture is arranged and how the rooms flow into one another.
Your home should support the way you want to live and feel, not simply look beautiful in a photograph.
So before you choose the next piece of furniture, take a moment to ask yourself:
How do I want to feel when I walk through my front door?
09/12/2026
Before I notice the furniture, I notice how the room feels.
When I walk into a space, I’m paying attention to things that don’t always show up on a floor plan, the way the light moves through the room, where my eye naturally lands, how the space flows, what feels inviting, and what feels a little off.
Sometimes a room has everything it “should” have, but it still doesn’t feel right. Maybe there’s too much visual noise. Maybe the furniture is interrupting the natural flow. Maybe the room needs more warmth, softness, light, or connection to nature.
These subtle details are often where the real design work begins.
Before I start choosing finishes or furniture, I want to understand what the space is already saying, and how we can make it feel more like home.

Give That Guest Bathroom the Reno It Deserves ✨
This guest bathroom was ready for a serious refresh. We started by removing the outdated tub and reimagining the space as a clean, modern walk-in shower, giving the bathroom a completely new feel.
From selecting the tile and finishes to figuring out the details that make the space work, this project was all about bringing the vision to life. I love helping clients take an outdated space and turn it into something beautiful, functional, and uniquely theirs.
Thinking about giving your bathroom the renovation it deserves? I can help from start to finish. Find out more about working with me through the link in my bio. 🤍

The details are where design comes to life—and lighting is one of the most important details in any space.
The right lighting can add warmth, create atmosphere, highlight architectural features, and bring personality to a room. From statement fixtures to softer layers of ambient and accent lighting, each choice plays a role in how a space looks and, just as importantly, how it feels.
I love using lighting to add those final layers that make a room feel considered, balanced, and complete.
Because beautiful design isn’t just about what you see. It’s about how the whole space makes you feel.
