The way I see it, Dolly was doing it right.
Lessons from her:
Kindness always. Love others and make it your mission to make someone’s day better whenever possible.
Be bold in who you are. No one does it better and blending into the crowd is terribly boring.
Work hard are your happiness and enjoy your life. Treat the lessons and hardships as a fun game.
Being underestimated is an advantage. Just worry about your own opinion of yourself.

How could I describe driving a 1969 Pagoda along the southern French coast and through the countryside with no set plan? Nostalgic, romantic, thrilling, immersive, with just enough tension to keep things interesting.
If you ever find yourself here, save this and swipe for some very niche recommendations >
1. Biarritz
This is a great starting point. This beautiful town sits on the southern French coast in the Basque Country. The Basque Country is a region split between Northern Spain and Southern France filled with its very own culture (think its own language, food, traditions and incredibly long history). Biarritz holds its own laid back energy with its surfing culture. Every cafe you step into has kind, welcoming people. I would describe the people I met there to be the type of relaxed, warm and open one aspires to be. In fact, it makes one wish they spoke French or Basque (if they don’t already) to be able to connect even more with the locals. They are delightful.
From here, definitely rent a car. Half the fun of this part of France is being able to take off and explore without much of a plan.
2. Bidart
Just south of Biarritz there’s a tiny coastal village perched on high cliffs called Bidart. This is great if you want to drive around, see beautiful homes and stop for incredible views from cliffs overlooking the Atlantic. It also has stunning ( + less crowded) beaches. Stop for lunch up on the hill at Le Birdie overlooking the golf course, or go all the way down to the water for lunch at Blue Cargo.
Then keep driving south >>
3. Saint-Jean-de-Luz
Easily one of the most charming towns along the French coast. This gem was an important fishing port dating back to the 12th Century when whale hunting was at its peak in the area. Fun fact: it was also a frequent stopping point for royally appointed french pirates that would attack invading ships. Then it eventually turned into a luxury seaside vacation spot.
There’s tons of shops and cafes. The best thing to do here is sit outside overlooking the plaza and s
