A summer of decks, cameras, clay, and light.
We watched kids walk in not knowing what a crossfader was and walk out with a mix they made themselves. We watched the quiet ones find the camera. We watched a projection go up on a wall and the whole room go silent at the same time.
Small groups, every kid at their own station. That is how a kid gets far enough into something to surprise themselves.
That was the Summer of Make, our tenth year doing this. Thank you for trusting us with it.
The room is not done. We are building something for winter break, and enrichment is already back in schools.

Every kid has a thing.
Ten years in, the pattern holds. The quiet one takes to photography. The one who cannot sit still finds the decks. The kid nobody expected walks out with the best mix in the room.
It happens in the first week, usually. Something in the room catches and they stop looking around to see what everyone else is doing.
We are not sorting anyone. We are handing them the tools and getting out of the way. Real equipment, small groups, and enough time for a kid to be bad at something before they are good at it.
Tell us what your kid gravitated to this year. We are always curious. ๐

The week fills up before you get a say in it. Drop off, pickup, homework, dinner, repeat. The creative part is the first thing to get cut, and it is the part they remember.
This fall Art Cortex is back in schools. DJ decks, cameras, hands in the material. Real equipment, small groups, and instructors who have been doing this for ten years.
Every kid gets their own station. That is the whole point. No waiting for a turn, no watching someone else make the thing.
The question isn't whether your child is creative. It's whether they've had the room, the tools, and the time to find out.
Keep making.
Comment FALL and we will send you first access to fall details before they go public. ๐

The question isn't whether your child is creative.
It's whether they've had the room, the tools, and the time to find out.
Fall enrichment at Art Cortex is in development now. Weekly sessions, small groups, real materials, and instructors who are working artists, musicians, and producers in their own right. Kids move through painting, music, and digital production on a structured arc, and they leave with finished work that belongs to them.
This is our tenth year doing this. What we know by now is that creative confidence isn't taught. It's built, one session at a time.
Dates and enrollment open soon. Join the list at artcortex.co and you'll hear first.

Three weeks. One room that kept getting louder.
Week three brought finished canvases, first sets performed start to finish, and campers who walked in strangers and left with something to show for it.
Across three weeks, kids moved through painting, music, and digital production alongside working artists. Some found the thing they're good at. Most surprised a parent at pickup. All of them left with work that belongs to them.
Creative confidence isn't taught. It's built.
The Summer of Make. Thank you to every family who trusted us with it, and to for the room to do it in.

Wednesday of our final week.
Paint still drying. Headphones on. Someone learning their first chord. Halfway through the last week of the Summer of Make, and nobody is coasting.
This is what the middle of a camp week looks like at Superblue. The projects are underway, the instruments are out, and our campers have settled into the work. They build, they perform, and they leave on Friday with something that is theirs.
Ten summers of this, and it still gets us every time.

This is the last week of the Summer of Make.
Week 3 is the final week of camp. After Friday, we close the summer and Art Cortex will not be back at Superblue until next year.
There are still spots open. Five days of murals and photography, live instruments and DJ lab, taught by working instructors inside one of Miami's most immersive art spaces. Your child comes home with real projects, real skills, and the kind of confidence that only comes from making something and standing behind it.
We have watched it happen for ten summers.
It takes one week.
Reserve the last spots at artcortex.co/shop.

We called it the Summer of Make for a reason.
Not the summer of watch.
Not the summer of scroll.
The summer of make.
Every day, our campers sat down in front of something real. A canvas, a camera, a set of drums, a DJ deck. And every day, they made something that did not exist before they walked in. Some of it was polished and some of it was gloriously messy, and all of it was theirs.
We believe making is how kids figure out who they are. It is how the quiet one finds a voice, how the restless one finds focus, how any child learns that their own ideas are worth building into something real. Screens ask kids to consume. Making asks them to create, and the difference shows up in how they carry themselves when they are done.
Ten summers in, that is still the whole point.
Thank you to every family who made something with us this year.

What's inside a camper's mind.
Football clubs and instant noodles. A favorite character. A ticket stub. Everything that matters to her, all at once, pouring out the top of her head.
This week our campers built self-portrait collages, and the assignment was not to show what they look like. It was to show what they think about. They cut, sorted, and layered until the page said something true about them, which is harder than it sounds and takes real decision-making to pull off.
Every single one came out different. That is the whole point of what we do. Kids arrive with their own interests and obsessions, and we hand them the tools to turn all of it into something they made themselves.
Week 3 is enrolling now. Reserve a spot at artcortex.co/shop.
