A special thank you to the reporters and outlets who carried this story. You told the stories of riders who depend on the bus. Workers heading to early shifts. Workers heading home late at night.

Riders spoke up, and the press listened. The County listened too. Early morning bus service is saved.

But late night service is still on the chopping block. That’s 3,282 riders every night with no safe, affordable way home.

On October 6, the County Commission meets again to talk about new transit funding. We need you there.

We saved the first bus. Let’s save the last one.

Last week, Transit Alliance joined advocates at the first Miami-Dade County budget hearing for FY2026-27 to defend early morning bus service on 47 routes.

The good news: not one commissioner defended the cuts. The question on the table is where the money comes from. Swipe to see the ideas proposed during discussion and where each commissioner stands.

Nothing is final until the last budget hearing on Thursday, September 17 at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center.

There will be 12 walks from September to December. Each walk will be between 15 to 30 minutes.

➡️ Before the walk: we will stretch, hydrate, and eat a few snacks.

➡️ During the walk: help seniors walk and navigate obstacles as needed, take breaks as needed, stay with seniors that may need a break, carry water/snacks in case anyone needs, observe, discuss, and mark pedestrian infrastructure on a provided auditing checklist

➡️ After the walk: hydrate, eat snacks, and brief presentations on pedestrian safety topics

🚌🚏Early morning bus service is an essential part of Miami-Dade’s public transit system. We talked to riders on early morning buses who will be affected if this service is cut. Swipe to see what nurses, construction workers, custodians, students, and community members have to say about what their commute will look like.

Miami-Dade’s proposed budget for FY2026-27 cuts 11% of all bus service. This includes:
⚠️ 47 buses that will lose early morning service (before 5:59 AM)
⚠️ 41 buses losing late-night service (after 10:01 PM)
⚠️ 12 routes completely eliminated

We’re calling on the Mayor and County Commissioners to restore $12.4M to morning transit, the most essential service moving over 6,868 workers and families every week.

🚨 Stop the cuts. Save the first bus.

Miami-Dade’s proposed budget cuts 11% of all bus service. This includes route eliminations, morning buses cut before 6 AM, and late night buses cut after 10 PM.

☀️ Morning service is essential. Thousands of workers count on the first bus of the day to get to jobs, school, and appointments.

🗣️ Your voice can change this. Commissioners vote September 17. Swipe for every chance to speak up between now and then. Tell your commissioners and the Mayor why transit matters to you.
