Creamsicle hacked into the rescue account… 😨

Apparently he got tired of waiting for us to find him a home, basically said “fine, I’ll do it myself,” took his own selfie, and decided to handle the adoption marketing personally.

Honestly, we respect the initiative 🫡

Creamsicle is 4 months old, neutered, ridiculously loving, full of personality, and has exactly the amount of orange cat energy you’d expect from someone who just took over our Instagram account. He is genuinely one of our favorite kittens at the rescue and somehow still waiting for a forever home.

So yes, this is now his adoption post. Please share it before he starts changing passwords.

Day 1 of trying to put Miami Animal Rescue’s first rescue van on the road. 30 days. 30 reasons this community desperately needs one. And we’re starting with something most people probably never think about.

Miami-Dade is home to more than 300,000 community cats. Behind so many of those colonies is someone quietly showing up week after week with bags of food, bowls, water, and whatever they can fit into the back of their car.

Right now, that’s what this work looks like for us. Food packed into trunks, cars filled to the last inch, and volunteers driving across Miami to make sure colonies don’t go without.

A rescue van means we stop measuring how much help we can bring by how much fits in someone’s trunk. It means loading up food and supplies and bringing them directly into the communities that need them, consistently and reliably.

We asked Lulu why someone should adopt her, and she had a list ready, obviously… 🩷 We only put five things, but to her, it’s more like a 836251 reasons. Swipe through some of her reasons and see if you can actually say no to her face. We believe, completely unbiased, that she is the perfect dog!

Lulu has already waited long enough, and she’s been through things no dog should ever have to deal with. She is available for adoption and being fostered in Miami. Nimbus looks pregnant, but in reality, she’s actually fighting for her life 💔🆘

A couple days ago, we got Nimbus into our care after she was found living on the streets. Her belly was so distended that anyone glancing at her would assume she was pregnant. Today, she went to the vet for blood tests and radiographs. That’s when we found the real answer: Nimbus has Cushing’s disease, and it’s what’s actually causing her abdomen to swell the way it has.

She’s also loaded with tapeworms and hookworms. Her skin is badly sunburnt, along with her paws, which are covered in blisters, likely from months of living outside with no relief from the sun. She has stage 4 periodontal disease and will need extractions. She’ll also need to be spayed once she’s stable enough. Her vet also believes she may have hyperthyroidism, but right now it’s difficult to tell what in her bloodwork is from an actual underlying condition versus the toll of the conditions she was living in. We’re working on stabilizing her first, so we can get a clearer, more accurate picture of what’s really going on. The one piece of good news from today: she’s heartworm negative!

While she goes through all of this, Nimbus is also getting pampered and loved by the students at Felix Varela Senior High School veterinary program, she’s just the sweetest girl, and it shows in how everyone around her already adores her.

This is going to be a long road for her, and for us, because to us, rescue isn’t just about getting an animal somewhere safe.
