This past weekend, AP had the honor of attending Family Expo! A wonderful opportunity to connect with families, share information about our programs & resources, & provide free school supplies to everyone who stopped by our table. A heartfelt thank you to for hosting an excellent event & for giving us the opportunity to be a part of it. Your continued partnership is invaluable, & we’re grateful for your ongoing support of our mission. We’re also thankful to everyone who stopped by our table to learn more about our services, especially about our Bridging Families & Communities Program, funded by The Children’s Trust. It was a pleasure connecting with families, & we hope the attendees left with helpful information & had a meaningful experience with our staff. Events like this remind us how important it is to come together, build relationships, & ensure families know where to turn for support in our communities.

This week, AP proudly celebrated Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week & the professionals who perform one of the most demanding, & often least understood, roles in our justice system. This year’s theme, Connected for Change: Building Bridges in Supervision, reflects what we have believed for more than five decades: public safety is strengthened when accountability is connected to treatment, opportunity, support, & hope. Our probation officers & the teams supporting them do far more than monitor compliance. They help people navigate complex systems, confront harmful behavior, access services, rebuild stability, & move toward better futures, all while remaining accountable to the courts & the communities we serve. We honor the judgment, patience, compassion, & professionalism this work requires. To the entire Advocate Program team & community corrections professionals everywhere: your work changes lives, strengthens families, & makes communities safer. Happy PPPSWeek!

Last Friday, AP participated at the City of North Miami’s 2nd Annual Housing & Social Services Community Fair at the Joe Celestin Center. It was exciting to be alongside a variety of dedicated community organizations that shared valuable resources, programs, & services to support individuals & families. It was truly a great opportunity to connect with local partners, discover new resources, & learn about the many services available in our community. Thank you to all who stopped by our table to learn more about our programs & the support our team provides. Our SSVF Outreach Team was in attendance to answer questions about our Veterans’ housing program. There was a Homeownership 101 Q&A, giveaways, music, & an afternoon focused on connecting with our community.

Our team members Jaden Prudent, Maha Hejazi, & Denise Pineda, had the opportunity to connect with many organizations that make a meaningful impact in our communities. Gathering with partners who share a commitment to serving others is invaluable. Together, we work to ensure individuals & families have access to the resources & support they need. At AP, our impact is strengthened not only by our dedicated team & the clients we serve, but also by the incredible organizations that collaborate with us to create lasting change. Thank you to Transition for bringing us together & to all of our community partners for your continued dedication to building stronger, more connected communities. We’re grateful to be part of this work alongside you.

Thomas Guerra, a member of AP's Board of Directors and Executive Director of F-Fentanyl, led a training session on overdose prevention for our team, educating us on the opioid epidemic, debunking common myths about Fentanyl, and introducing harm reduction practices, overdose recognition, and reversal techniques using Naloxone. For further information on overdose prevention and access to free Naloxone, please visit www.f-fent.org. Additionally, our offices, including the Central Office in Miami-Dade County, have free Naloxone available for everyone.

Advocate Program was excited to be part of the BMSF Grantee Summit last week along with the honorable . This wonderful event provided grantees with the opportunity to come together to share and learn on amazing outcomes and findings in several sectors in our communities including brain health and cancer research. AP’s Pathways to Recovery Program Coordinator Maha Hejazi, shared the work of our Team, who is working to provide a comprehensive community response to individuals with serious mental health including participants of our local problem solving courts.

AP is excited to share an upcoming opportunity that can make a meaningful difference in our community. Join us at the Reentry Summit at North Miami, an event designed to connect individuals with valuable community resources that support successful reintegration. Whether you’re seeking guidance on employment, or taking important steps like renewing your driver’s license, this summit offers access to the tools & support needed to move forward with confidence. Advocate Program is proud to announce the appointment of our newest Board Member, David Muniz. David brings a powerful combination of service, leadership, & technical expertise as a Senior Executive Support Engineer at & a former U.S. veteran. His commitment to excellence & mission-driven impact aligns seamlessly with our work to support & strengthen the communities we serve.
Reflecting on his decision to join the board, David shared:
“I’ve always tried to model my purpose in life around what Winston Churchill once said: ‘We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.’ At this stage of my life & career, I can think of no better way to put that philosophy into action than by serving as an Advocate Program Board Member.” We’re excited for the perspective & leadership he will bring as we continue advancing our mission.
