MEET ANJANE! 🎶

We’re thrilled to welcome Anjane Girwarr for her first season with Seraphic Fire! A familiar presence in South Florida’s music community, Anjane brings together a passion for performance, education, and helping singers connect more deeply with their craft.

From the concert stage to the classroom (and the yoga studio!), her work reflects the many ways music can inspire, teach, and bring people together. 🎓🎤

Pure Imagination welcomed children, parents, grandparents, longtime patrons, and many first-time audience members to The Parker for an afternoon celebrating what the human voice can do. Led by Dr. Matthew Brady, the concert brought familiar favorites from Frozen, Coco, Toy Story, Tangled, and more to life, complete with bubbles, glowing lanterns, and plenty of reactions from our youngest listeners.

South Florida Classical Review has named Seraphic Fire and James K. Bass a Critic’s Choice for the 2026–27 season, highlighting James’ first concerts as Artistic Director and the “varied and challenging” program that will open this new chapter.

October 15–18, James leads the voices of Seraphic Fire in Vaughan Williams’ Serenade to Music, Caroline Shaw’s To the Hands, and Eric Whitacre’s When David Heard.

This Sunday, Pure Imagination brings music from Frozen, Toy Story, Coco, Beauty and the Beast, The Wizard of Oz, and more to The Parker, performed through the extraordinary professional voices of Seraphic Fire. From “Let It Go” and “Remember Me” to the timeless “Over the Rainbow,” the program gives children and families a chance to hear familiar favorites in an entirely new way.

MEET KUNYA! 🎶

We’re thrilled to welcome vocalist, arranger, and cultural curator Kunya Rowley back for his second season with Seraphic Fire! Based in South Florida, Kunya is the founder and Executive Artistic Director of Hued Songs, where he creates interdisciplinary performances centering Black culture through music, movement, and spoken word.

Trained in opera and classical music, Kunya has performed and created work with Florida Grand Opera, Opera Naples, and Orchestra Miami. His work has also taken him to Bermuda and Johannesburg, and has earned support from organizations including the National Endowment for the Arts, the Knight Foundation, and the Jorge M. Pérez Foundation. 🎤✨

Ahead of Pure Imagination, conductor Dr. Matthew Brady reflects on the childhood moment that inspired his own life in music, what he has learned about the art of conducting, and the opportunity to create that same sense of wonder for a new generation.

From “Let It Go” to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow,” familiar songs take on new possibilities when experienced through the voices of Seraphic Fire. For Brady, the goal is not simply to perform for young audiences, but to create a musical memory that might stay with them for years to come. ✨

One year later, we remember our beloved board member and friend, Mel VanderBrug, and the lasting impact he made on the Seraphic Fire family.

Mel’s deep faith, quiet strength, and commitment to service touched so many. From the first Seraphic Fire concert he attended with Barbara, when he described the music as “what heaven is like,” his love for our artists and our mission remained a meaningful part of our community.

Today, we remember Mel with gratitude and continue to carry forward the generosity, hope, and love of music that defined his legacy. Our thoughts remain with Barbara and the entire VanderBrug family.
